I think the only reason people are interested in seeing the Hulk is because they like the man inside him.
I disagree. That's like saying people enjoy NASCAR for the racing.

I think Hulk is Marvel's Jack Black or Will Ferrell... Great supporting actor, but has trouble carrying a film alone. I'm even including the TV show, as the Hulk in that was the supporting actor for Bill Bixby's David Banner,
"... and then I was forced to walk the Trail of Tears." - Elizabeth Warren
Pretty much that. No one can watch a rampaging green rage beast for 2 hours straight. If they don't like the "other guy," well.... they won't like the green guy either.
"Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid."
Planet Hulk isn't 2 hours of a rampaging beast. People forget that the Hulk isn't always a mindless beast of rage. There have been a lot of versions of the Hulk: Gray, Green, Red, dumb, smart, etc.
Planet Hulk was a long story line that had the Hulk SPOILERS launched into space by his friends. They were sending him to a quiet planet to live in peace and away from the Earth. Well things go bad and he ends up on a planet of war. He becomes a slave and is forced to fight in an arena where he gains allies in the other fighters. You know the rest of that story, and the Hulk finds peace. That's when the other shoe drops...
Hulk returns to Earth as a conqueror and fucks up everyone. He basically destroys New York and beats every hero that shows his/her face. (Yeah, I know. However, for story telling purposes you sometimes just have to accept stuff as it's told. Hint: Kitty Pryde could incapacitate Hulk and Wolverine all by herself.)
I left out all the big twists and turns including the very cool ending. End Spoilers

I watched Planet Hulk on Netflix with my kid a while back... it ended with him winning the girl and finding peace and I wondered why the girl didn't wake up with David Banner. I didn't see a lot of depth and nuance in the character... he was Hulk and he Smashed. He just also spoke in full sentences.
Was there a part 2 with him retuning to Earth?
"Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid."
The book is very different. They get that ending, but like I said, then the other shoe drops.
He is Banner in the Planet Hulk story, and it's important when he is, but he's not Banner a lot.

I actually think I have the TPB for Planet Hulk if you want to borrow it.

As for the trailer, it looks good, but far darker than the first movie. Not really sure about the Scarlet Witch yet either. That shot of her screaming felt awkward.
