From here. Cops v. hippie-nerds. Man, I'm torn.

Very torn.

I mean, it's completely out of the way, but at the same time, you know there will be people watching YouTube and/or porn while driving.

You know how drunks have cars that won't start until they blow into the tube that checks for alcohol?

The version for people who get caught texting or using google glass will have cell and WiFi jammers.

I've been tempted to install a jammer into my car. Then get nice and close to people I see on their phones while driving.

You should get a ticket for just wearing them.

I can see legit reasons for them, though, like bringing up driving directions so you don't have to glance off to the side or dash.

Indeed. Safer to have GPS as an overlay than to have GPS on your phone or other mounted device.

Do people with those cars that project the speedometer and other data on the windshield edges get tickets like this?

Sure, but if they are then ticket those people that do such things. Don't ticket everyone just because they might do something unsafe with their property.

Down that path lies the same thinking as those who'd love to repeal the 2nd. Ya commie.

The entire .08-drunk driving thing is ticketing people who MIGHT do something harmful. That slope has already been slipped.

You'll notice there's no comparable test for driving under the influence of coke, meth, speed, smack, etc. I'd hardly call the insane laws in this country surrounding liquor as good precedent for anything.

Good thing T.U. was willing to waive all his constitutional rights like that and let the FBI dig around in his data without a warrent, or else we wouldn't have heard of this story because he'd still be being held in detention somewhere as an enemy of the state.

Or am I thinking of North Korea? In some ways it's kind of hard to tell sometimes.

I think eventually we're (the rich first, of course, until the middle class can afford it) going to be wetwired with the internet directly into our brains, so these are just the birthing pains of that tech.
