Understood.

And I understand that if I'd paid cash on the barrel I wouldn't be having this discussion.

I don't remember signing finiance papers that said they could tack on a $3k fee.

What MB said. But they've taken the side of much smaller disputes in NC, so I figure they are worth a shot. And somehow, AG sounds a lot more threatening than "I'm calling a lawyer"

Here's a link to the NC DoJ's Consumer Protection division. File a complaint, see what can happen.

I figured having a private lawyer would be more effective than counting on the gov't for help... but I'll look into it.

The problm with a private lawyer is that it will cost you a lot. And what's his incentive? 25% of $3000 if he doenst go hourly? That doesnt get much lawyering.

Whereas there ain't a DA in the world ain't itching to take on Corporate America, if it offers a chance to grab some headlines. I can see it now:

"Yeah that's going to be a problem. It's gonna be a problem for them. This a clear violation of your rights as a consumer. It's an infringement on your constitutional rights. It's outrageous, egregious, preposterous."

Thought, perhaps a lawyer would take the case and only get paid if you win. In a case like this it's almost a gurantee that Ford would be forced to pay court/lawyer fees if it lost.

My experience with the AG office in Ohio is that they have so many cases they don't look much at the little ones either. Check you paperwork and send it to me.

The paperwork has been located, but it won't be in my hands until 6pm.

It was there, but it was disguised right next to the interest rate so I'd think it was interest I'd pay over the life of the loan... interest to be paid over the life of the loan wasn't listed at all. If it had been I'd have wondered what that second number was.

Not sure what to do at this point.

I'd still contact the AG. They do much smaller things here in NC than auto-ripoffs.
