Flops are as much a part of soccer as they are in the NBA. Hell, in the NBA half of a drive to the basket is about drawing contact so you can get a cheap whistle.

Do flops suck? Yes. We can bitch and complain about them and the guys who take a dive all day, but in the end we'd be wasting our breath. As long as someone can flop and gain an advantage for their team, flops will exist. End of story.

And let's not forget about the other types of flops like the cornerback who falls down "hurt" after getting beat for a touchdown or the athlete who is constantly falling during a good performance to amp up the drama and sympathy from the crowd (EX: Paul Pierce).

After watching some youtube vids, I gotta say: what a bunch of pussies. Or douchebags, if you prefer.

Looks to me like a good reason to have video playbacks in soccer. Someone flops, do a review to see if there was real contact or if they are faking, then make the decision about who gets the card for it. Personally I'd put faking down for an immediate red, myself.

Faking can be yellow or red-carded, but it rarely, rarely is. But it'd be nice to have some official in the box watching video who could quickly call down and tell the refs it's bullshit.

Right now the most you get is the different associations for each country can hand out punishment for floppers or rescind cards. The EPL just gave a player a 1 or 2 game ban for trying to deceive the ref earlier in the season.

The problem for FIFA is that they are too big of pussys to do anything about it because the South and Central American teams would scream racism if they started getting harsh with it.

The problem with the flop in soccer compared to other sports is that it can end up being such a big part of the game. Vlade Divac can flop and get foul shots and at most that play contributes to about 3% of the total score where as soccer a flop can be 100% of the score. Which is why it gets so much more attention.

Reactions to the goal.

I could watch this video all day.

It is pretty cool but I think the people by themselves are fake. I can believe them setting up the camera to record their reaction if their is a game winning goal but after about a second you have to be aware that you are taping yourself and the rest is an act.

What is with the crowds in some of these games. While watching Uruguay and South Korea there were large patches of empty seats.

There are more fans at MLS games!

Jozy still sucks. He has all the ability to become a really good player later on but he is still a friendly game superstar.

Come on Argentina and Germany!

Not a Bradley basher like most of the non bandwagon soccer community but that was a poor lineup today.

Clack is a good player but a good defensive player and you had Ghana who had not score a non penalty goal in the WC yet. Why go so defensive when Michael Bradley is also a bit defensive and then why go so defensive when your team has shown that they aren't even good on defense with the extra help. Should of had the offense from the start because Ghana is only going to counter attack anyways.

Overall this was a very disappointing WC. Not as bad as 06 but being better than crap still isn't that great.
