This is why I will not buy Half Life 2:

The other big problem is that while the Steam network is down even the offline games are unplayable.


I know they got their source code stolen 2 months before the original launch due to their servers being unsecure. They're pissed. Fine. I just hope they thwart more pirates than they lose from peeps like me who would have bought... not buying.

You can set it so you can play HL2 in offline mode... you just have to use steam once to register, just fyi

So if I'd bought it during their down time, too bad for me.

Steam will NOT be around forever, any more than Sierra was. They were on top for a long time. I aint getting it until I can play an offline game offline.
