I Am Legend
Has anyone seen The last man on earth with Vincent? If you don't want to hear more don't read. I heard with Last Man he was a vampire hunter with garlic and stuff. The Omega Man got rid of alot of the vampire stuff. I am Legend gives up the vampire hunting to watch him try to find a cure and get rid of 2 people, the main vampire trying to kill him and the girl. Probably still worth a watch but I wondered if anyone here had seen the first two yet. Or how about read the book. Any good?Paul wrote:Wikipedia spoiler about the book.
When I read it, thought "That's sort of like that 1970's Charlton Heston movie" and when I read down a little further, sure enough, The Omega Man was based on it.
Vincent Price did a movie based on the book as well.
In marriage there is always one person right. And the other one is the husband.
I have LMOE on DVD. I've seen Omega Man. IAL is more OM than LMOE, but there are elements of both movies in it, and then a completely new ending faithful to nothing.
Thank you for that spoiler.

I can't tell if you're being a smart ass or not, so tell me seriously, considering I read the book and expected a particular ending...did you just let a huge cat out of the bag or what?
I DID have a hunch something was going to be different about the ending due to the story about Smith leaking the ending by mistake.

Did LMOE die? And if he did it can't be that much diffferent. Legend is still dead.GORDON wrote:I have LMOE on DVD. I've seen Omega Man. IAL is more OM than LMOE, but there are elements of both movies in it, and then a completely new ending faithful to nothing.

You're absolutely right. By now, everyone on the planet should've read the book or seen either (or both) of two movies (one from the 60s and one from the early 70s) that aren't considered cult classics, and thus, would not be normally shown on TV or be available in most video stores.
In fact, let's just make it a forum rule from this point forward that if a movie is based on an established work, we don't need to worry about spoilers. We'll just assume everyone knows what happens.
And yes, if you read the book, it is a VERY specific ending. I was going in expecting THAT ending and would've been shocked to see something different, now I'll be expecting it.
I mean damn man, just swallow your pride and say "Ok, I might've fucked your experience a bit, but I wasn't specific enough to spoil everything about the ending. So I apologize. You know it wasn't intentional because I'm a complete nazi about spoilers. I hate 'em. I've even done long posts about how much I hate people who post spoilers."

I liked this film a lot.
I liked the book better, but they are two totally different things. EVERYTHING is different outside of the general theme of the story and the main character's name.
I think those brains that inhabit this forum would be bigger fans of the book, but that's because it gets a lot more into the science of the story and the details of how Robert Neville survives.
Still, I'd recommend the film to anyone. I think Will, as much as his real life has disappointed me lately (Scientology?), does an excellent job.
My only quibble came at the end. Two "facts" in the movie just didn't make a lot of sense and one seemed to be stolen from "World War Z". They aren't deal breakers though.

Alternate ending... the original one that got cut, apparently.
Probably spoilers.

I think I liked the one they put in the movie more. I'm not sure.
The book ending was better, but the alternate ending more closely resembles the book in terms of who the vampires are, but the original ending more closely resembles the book's ending. (In terms of Will's character and the vamps.)
