Barbie (2023)

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Barbie (2023)

This is a legit movie. I sat down with the intention of watching 1/3 or 1/2 of it, but got engrossed. There's a very well-done scene when Barbie pauses a moment and really looks at the world around her. I was touched.

That may have not been their intention.
It was very much their intention, and I nailed that. They even use the word "existential" at one point.

Good movie.......... but I think they left a big hole in the "this is the experience of a woman" message. Because.... sometimes they find a partner in men that actually want to lift them up, not hold them down. And that was completely absent.

I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it either. It had some very funny moments, but also some moments where the script writers seemed to get confused. I saw it, but would never watch it again.

I liked when she was distressed and sat and moved around like a plastic doll for a minute.

Apparently Ryan Gosling got nominated for an Oscar, but not Greta Gerwig or Margot Robbie.

Ouch.

Sometimes this shit is so stupid it's hard not to believe in conspiracy theories.

Admittedly, he was nominated for Supporting Actor, less competitive than Best Actor/Actress. America Ferrera was nominated for Supporting Actress for Barbie.
