I'm making this list because I can never remember places with good/bad fries. I hate batter dipped. I will go out of my way to avoid them. So here's a logbook.
American Table - Like double batter dipped. Puke.
Bar Louie - Batter dripped. Tots are an option. Were open Christmas, though.
BJ's Brew House - chain - batter dipped. Gross.
Frickers - local chain. Has good crinkle fries. Also a couple other formats, but also genetically pure crinkle fries.
Good Times Bar and Grill - Excellent, thick hand-cut fries.
Hop Cat - Batter dipped. "Most people say the fries are why they come here." Fucking hipsters.
Lucky's - Batter dipped. Have tots as an alternative.
Manhattan Pub n' Cheer - decent hand-cuts. Draft list is IPA heavy. Yuck.
Maumee Bay Brewing Company - Loud, mediocre, and waffle fries. Plus don't forget that time they stiffed us on a reservation.
Nick's Cafe on Reynolds - Good hand-cuts, large portions.
Star Diner - they look like fresh-cut, but I don't think they are. Petty sure they came out of a bag. Were also soggy. When I go to a diner I want crispy frozen steak fries.... not those neglected things.
Texas Roadhouse - Good steak fries.
Twin Peaks - the location in Toledo has transitioned from girls in daisy duke shorts and tight t-shirts, to literal lingerie with garters. Also the thin fries are seasoned. Not great. Maybe ask them to not season next time?
Ye Olde Dirty Burd - Toledo - Good steak fries, decent beer list, tight parking.
Village Inn - Sylvania - Like 4 varieties, not all batter dipped, plus tots. Good smash burg, too.

Man, I do not like batter-dipped fries. Steak fries - yes; Skinny fries - yes; Batter-dipped - no.
It's not me, it's someone else.

Good Times Bar and Grill - Excellent, thick hand-cut fries. And the gyro was pretty good. And a decently sized menu.

Manhattan Pub n' Cheer - decent hand-cuts. Local Toledo place, part of the downtown revitalization. Had an excellent burger. I will return. Draft list is IPA heavy, but they had a decent blonde.

Someone less lazy than me purchase the domain "batterdipped.com" and get cheap hosting. The entire page is, centered on the page, "Batter-dipped french fries are (f-word in gerund form) gross. Stop serving them." Make sure the page stays alive for at least 40 years.

Nick's Cafe on Reynolds.
Excellent hand-cuts, and they're a large-portion restaurant. My gyro was also huge and excellent.

edit - went again on a Thursday night, and the only 3 microbrews I wanted were out. Only had IPAs. What the fuck. Had to get a Labatt's Blue.

Maumee Bay Brewing Company.
I was enamored of this place, for a while. They are a brewery and restaurant and I really liked one of the beers they brought back from the 1950s and 60s called "Buckeye Beer."
But they're still a bar, and the place has bad acoustics, and it only takes 2-4 drunk women talking REALLY LOUD to blast you out of the place. Happened to us twice.
Plus the food is only mediocre any more (medium burgers delivered well done), and they have waffle fries. So. Yeah.
