The King of Staten Island (2020)
Judd Apatow film based on the real life of Pete Davidson. Davidson stars obviously.
Davidson's firefighter dad died on the job when Pete was 7. This left Pete with serious mental issues and his maturity was stunted as a result. He basically does nothing while dreaming of becoming a tattoo artist. His sister was too young to remember dad, so she turned out pretty normal and is heading off to college. Meanwhile, their mom, Marisa Tomei, is doing the best she can, but clearly gives Pete far too much slack. Enter a new love interest for mom, Bill Burr, and Pete's enter world is flipped upside down.
I knew nothing of Davidson coming into this aside from the fact he dated someone of note. I think he might be on SNL or was? I don't know. I do know that I really appreciate his story here. It's very much a "people behind the heroes" story that can easily be applied to cops, military, and so on.
Very nicely directed with solid performances. It runs 2 hours, but you don't really notice. Everything flows perfectly.
The acting is exceptional. I don't think there's a bad job in the whole film, but special mentions have to be given out:
-Marisa Tomei is a fucking treasure. How have we not gotten more films out of her? She is such a damn good actor.
-Bill Burr's best role. He's pretty awesome, although his character isn't as fleshed out as it could have been. I'm betting there's stuff about his character that was cut for time.
-Bel Powley is amazing as Pete's girlfriend. Her role isn't massive, but damn you believe that's who she is.
Overall, the film is about as solid as they come.

“Every record been destroyed or falsified, books rewritten, pictures repainted, statues, street building renamed, every date altered. The process is continuing day by day. History stops. Nothing exists except endless present in which the Party is right.”

Yes.
Yes. Ariana Grande. Rumoured to have dated Kate Beckinsale, and (supermodel?) Kaia Gerber
He has severe mental health issues.
I had this on my maybe list, but I'll move it up now.
It's not me, it's someone else.

Proof that you don't need to look like Brad Pitt or have a body like Hemsworth to land a beautiful woman. Be funny and interesting.

Or, be insane, because that is CATNIP to ladies for some reason.

I feel like this understates it, since his dad died in 9/11.

Not sure if I knew that or overlooked it?

A friend of mine’s dad was a helicopter pilot for medevac, and he died in a helicopter crash when my friend was about eight years old and it messed him up for life too. He also went into acting, And had severe abuse issues with substance

After this movie I remember thinking much better of Davidson than I did previously.

I started thinking better of him when I learned he was banging Arianna Grande.
"Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid."

I think that's why I didn't like him. Not because I like her, but because she's a cunt.
And I mean that in the offensive American way, not the cheeky British way.

Yeah, she's a cunt. I'd prolly still bang her. But I wouldn't take her to a nice dinner afterwards.
"Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid."

I know there's room and time for her to have matured, but fuck was she a twat.

I can bang her straight.
"Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid."

That's fine, I don't share with other dudes.
