As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Remember that shitty Mel Gibson vehicle "Payback?" Well, someone made a flick back in '67 based on the same book, so "Payback" is a half-assed remake. That film is "Point Blank" w\ professional movie bad-ass Lee Marvin. A gig goes bad & Lee spends the entire film trying to get his cash from the crime. Utilizing various methods such as torture, abusing women, manipulating women, blowing people away, and extortion, he cheerfully bounds around town trying to track down the dudes that've his payment.

Lee Marvin plays the coldest anti-hero I've ever seen. & it's Lee fucking Marvin, so he does it w\ fucking style.

Verdict : 4 stars. Fucking awesome.

EDIT : I don't pretend to know how, but I somehow posted two identical threads. Someone kill one.

Funny, I somehow thought the movie Payback was based on the book Payback, but I guess not.

Guess I'll have to check out The Hunter and Point Blank.

I liked Payback.
I'd've liked "Payback" if they got a hard-ass to take Mel's role. He just wasn't right for it. "Payback" significantly softens the character from the original book. I don't think "Point Blank" does nearly as much.
