From here.
My favorite military dreams are the ones in which I'm ventilating bad guys with the ol' M-16A2 Service Rifle... but usually the trigger gets harder and harder to pull. I guess that civilian equivalent is to be running away from a monster and not getting anywhere, like you're running through quicksand.

Time's makin' changes...
Nice weapon.
I've shot at many a bad-guy in dreams, but the bullets never work right. I do not remember ever hitting a bad guy. Either the bullets won't have enough gunpowder (so they go 10' before falling to the ground), or they'll take a random curve in their flight path (like the round shots in a smooth bore barrel used to do).
Often I'd know I was dreaming and remember that bullets didnt work right in my dreams, so I would run at the bad guys to cram the firearm in their ears before pulling the trigger. Of course, at that range they'd always push the gun away just as I pulled the trigger.
