Does it belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

Run-D.M.C. in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? You're killing me. That doesn't mean those aren't good artists. But they don't play guitar. They sample and they talk. Not even sing."


I disagree with him. I don't think the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was meant to be specifically for Rock and Roll, but for music acts in general. I mean, if it was specifically for R&R acts, then he's right, but I thought it was more of a pop culture/music thing?

Anyway, Ice Cube says something stupid too during the NWA's induction ceremony.
Cube replied Monday, directing a tweet toward Simmons. "Who stole the soul?" he wrote. "Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Chubby Checker help invent rock & roll. We invent it. Y'all reprint it."


It always amazes me when a black celebrity makes an insanely racist comment and nobody calls them on it.

Elvis stealing his shit has been a joke for a long time. Chuck Berry also arguably invented the rock guitar solo.

Jim Morrison couldn't sing either. Jimi occasionally intoned his words with rhythm and did some rudimentary "singing." But come the fuck on, slamming them for their vocal style?

I saw an article on this a couple days ago, don't know if it was the same one linked here. The author slammed gene as a hypocrite because he covered Prodigy's Firestarter, once, like that is some sort of "check and mate" argument. And I'm thinking, who thinks Prodigy is is a rap group?
