Also Gordo I just finished rereading a series I think you might like. I thought it was pretty good.
Heritage Triology by Ian Douglas The first book is called Semper Mars
In fact I am reading the first book in a new triology by same author called the Legacy Triology.

They took each of the 3 hardcover and made them into 2 paperbacks per.
