I had moved in and can log-in to help pvp and defend the base whenever needed.

It's just usually empty and I play rust for the other players at this point.

I sort of quit playing Rust altogether. Until it gets a big update I feel like I've played all the content available so far.

I still enjoy tweaking the mods, though, but there's little left to do there at this point.

Pretty much the same thing I said to Cake the other night.

There's something about the resource system, crafting, etc. that makes me log on during lunch though, but yeah, it reeks of "been there, done that". They had hinted at a big "something" last week, but apparently it didn't happen.

As for multi, I get my action fix from Mechwarrior.

P.S. Troy's house is long gone. TPR, your house was almost gone so I looted it. If you get back in game either go to the metal house or I've setup a secondary one between Civ Coast and Resource Coast. It's in a circle of low rocks next to the actual coast. Catt's house is there and fine. Forgot to check on Cake's.

And this.

And life in general got busy again. So I've just been popping on to keep my house up.

I don't know if you could get up there (I think the stairs and ramps popped), but the good stuff was in the middle room on the downslope side one floor down from the top. Probably not worth too much effort, unless you really really want a piece of C4.

I got everything out.

Also spawned a bunch of airdrops today. Just for fun. I figure if anyone tries our server and finds one, maybe they'll stick around longer.

So far, there are still only three other players I see on our server regularly.

I think it's Groindexter.

I tried to recruit some peeps from another server (TRU), but they didn't come over.

Multi in Rust and multi in MWO can't even be compared. Completely different ballparks. You barely scratched the surface of multi in Rust yet. Rust provides long term consequential interaction with other people. MWO provides meaningless fleeting interaction with people. What you do in MWO has barely measurable impact on other players. What you do in Rust does impact them based on exactly what you do to them. Then they can take revenge, and then you can. Long term competition where rivalries and alliances from. You don't find that in MWO. There is no emotion in MWO.

I'm with Cake.

The only thing I would like from Rust is more depth, bigger worlds, and more persistence.

I just don't love the combat in Rust currently. I get what you're saying about the consequences of fighting, but I don't think it's as black and white as what UO was, yet. I'm also just not into the PK thing. I prefer fighting specific enemies rather than just serial killing my way across the map. I've told you before that I'm very much into the war of attrition that Rust will hopefully provide, but right now it just isn't there, imho.

Rust is a great game, or at least one with great potential, but they are a long way away from it. I look forward to each update, and even check the developer's page daily to see if any announcements have been made. As is, like TPR, I'm waiting for more. I still get on near daily because it's just so compelling, but I'd rather get my action fix from Mechwarrior. I just really enjoy it. Every game is a fight. I have goals I'm building towards. I like trying to spec out my mechs. Etc. There is no overall goal yet, but it is something on their radar, and we might even see it in the next few months.

Same thing with Rust. Lots of stuff is coming, it's just a matter of when it arrives.

It's just goofy to hear you say "I'll get my action fix from Mechwarrior" when talking about Rust. It's like saying "I'll get my race car driving fix by watching it on TV". Your heart doesn't race when playing MWO. You aren't sweating after an extended fire fight. You aren't riding an adrenaline high while looting and hoping you aren't counter attacked. Your mouse hand isn't shaking making it near impossible to do anything. So much completely different games.

I understand you not wanting to play because it doesn't have what you are looking for. That all makes sense. But to say that there is ANYTHING in MWO that is a good substitute for what's in Rust is, well, goofy.

In tonight's adventures:

We killed a couple guys out collecting resources. One was this dude Helfurion that we have killed so many times. Just just keeps being where we are. The first time, Troy found him and killed him. Didn't loot him and let him know. Second time, we did loot him because he was far from home and wouldn't make it back to his body.

We did some more hunting and found a few more randoms. Then we saw a leather dressed guy running across coast valley. My guess, he saw us too because he was able to get position and opened fire on Troy before Troy even saw him. I had been trying to find some cover to fight from for an ambush when the shooting started. I ran around a big rock and saw gun rounds flying through the air, but I couldn't see either shooter. Troy announced that he was dead. I stopped where I was and listened for footsteps. Heard them above me. I crouched and got ready to fire. The guy came around the rock and opened up on me with his MP5. I only had a pistol for close range and never had a chance. He got both of us. Our first big loss in a while.

We re-equipped. In fact, Troy had to do some resource gathering because we dumped all of our recent resources into the base. I went out to get some too. Troy made a replacement MP5 and we geared up again. We decided to get a little closer to Rad-Town because there is always PvP happening over there. But, they are bigger groups so we didn't get TOO close. Plan was to hit some stragglers. And we saw one. A guy in leather was running and collecting resources. He didn't see us and we got into position. Saw him moving to another pile and counted down my first shot. BANG! I hit him. He starts running and Troy is closing for the kill. The guy starts running and I can't land a second shot. Troy is on his heals doing some shooting. Landing shots, but the guy won't go down. I take a couple more shots, but with lag and distance, I couldn't land it. Troy and him went around a big rock and I hear more gun fire. This time, a silenced weapon was being fired. I was hoping it wasn't this guy's back up. As I come around the rock, Troy announced that he got him. There was no back up. The guy decided to make a stand and was firing back. This guy had a TON of stuff on him. Enough resources to build a good set of back up weapons and armor and then some. Went back home avoiding anywhere that might lead to an encounter. We had enough stuff and didn't want to risk losing it. It was getting pretty dark and as we ran near Big Civ, someone started talking to us via in game chat off to our right. We hang a sharp left to take cover in the rocks/trees. Troy spots a shirtless guy in the area and thinks that might have been him. We contemplate fighting him, but decide to move on when Troy loses him. We make it back and start processing our loot.

I'm at a loss.

That statement is so dumb that I have no idea how to respond without starting a wall of text debate that I've no desire to participate in or without insulting a game I play or trying to project MY feelings on someone else like you're doing.

Don't want to play Mechwarrior, don't. I will be fine without having you around to tell me how much fun I'm not having.

As for Rust, you've done more to make me not want to play it anymore than any server wipe or lack of content.

So, the admin on the server Troy and I have been playing on imploded and nuked his server. Felt some people were cheating and instead of banning them, he started teleporting everyone on the server to the cheaters' base (they claimed to have 10 people on their team). He would give them C4 so they could raid the house. But, no one new what was going on. So most of the 'raiders' were shooting each other. Anyway, he wiped shortly after and it's sitting at zero players.

Found a new one that had recently been wiped. Started playing there. Building our base in the same spot, etc. I messed up a bit on the foundation and long story short, our furnace and work bench were outside on a foundation we couldn't put four walls on. So, we would work out there, and build the base. I went on a resource run to put a few more walls and doors up before being done. I was standing next to the furnace that I had just dumped 100 ore into and was reading Leisher's book review. I hear a noise and the game flashes. I'm taking damage!! I quickly try to switch over but am too slow and the second arrow kills me. Duh. I respawn and look for our shotgun. Troy logged out with it!! So, I had to rock Troy while the guy looted me. I grabbed some ammo, the shotty, some clothes and ran out. Ran around a bit, but didn't see him. BUT, I do see a small 1x1 at the bottom of our hill on the sweden side. I head back to the base. That's when I hear footsteps on it. I crouch to move slow. Working my way back to where I can get up on it. WHOOSH! An arrow flies by my head. Turn to see the guy crouching. I shoot and miss. Too far away. I sprint to where I can get up to our house. I fire and hit. Then BOOM! I get hit by a shotgun! I turn and fire back and land a hit. He shoots. WHOOSH another arrow. I'm dancing around all over the place, trying to get the guy with the shotgun. He jumps up on a rock. BOOM! I shoot him in the back and down he goes! I start focusing the archer. He's JUST missing me over and over. I'm hitting, but on the edge of the hit box so not doing a ton of damage. I go to reload and hit the wrong button and I'm wielding my ROCK! Switch back to the shotty and have one round left. BOOM! I shoot, he dies. I suck!! I loot like crazy and get back inside to hide. He comes back to congratulate me on a good fight. I let him know they got me to 3 health.

Traded a shit ton of resources for a shotty and some shit armor. But damn that was fun. First real fire fight I've gotten into and won. Hands are still shaking a bit.

They are outside in the dark whispering stuff to me. I can't hear it well enough to know what it is.

Oh, and as soon as we get enough grenades. We are hitting that house at the bottom of the hill. I know they live there. It looks right up at our house.

That enemy house grew overnight, is a 4x4 one story high this morning. Still very close.

I got into a fight in the valley near the road and took down a guy with lots of wood and building parts. People everywhere.

E: I think our house got pillared last night.

Continuing saga on the server where our house was pillared: The house was salvageable. We just had to add another floor above the pillars and we were back in business. We didn't see any more action at our house and the house below us seemed stagnant. Resources were getting hard to find as the server was filling up. 100 out of 150. TONS of naked running around. It got to the point where you had to shoot them in order to get resources. They were hoovering them all up. We were doing OK, getting some shotguns and some decent hardware. No big guns yet though. But, we were doing well with the shotguns. Seemed to be the weapon of choice on the server. Then the server hit 150 people. progress was halted. We would go on runs and score loot (by killing the mobile resource carriers). However, it was to the point where if you shot, there would be a swarm of 5-7 people coming to investigate. Was getting pretty harry. Fun. But harry. And 2 v 5-7 aren't good odds. We'd have time to grab a couple of things and then we had to sprint away. But, we were still making headway. Slowly. Then, we ran to big civ at sundown. No one else was there and we were clearing out all the stuff that had spawned. Then Troy reported that he was killed by a shotgun. I never heard the shot and I was right around the corner from him. I come around and see his body next to another backpack. I don't see/hear anyone and start to loot. Then, I'm dead. Repairman killed you with a shotgun to the chest. Never saw him. Never heard the shot. I immediately reported him as a hacker. Troy confirmed. Then someone else did. Then I think one more. Repairman was pleading his case saying he's not sure what's happening. He can't open packs. He hears the rad noise, but he's not taking on rads. Etc. No admins are responding. Guy continues to kill people. People are still calling for his banning. No admins still. We figure, between hackers being attracted to a high pop server, and the (4) admins mia, this may not be the best server any more. We go server shopping.

New server. It's at 50 of 100. We start running on that one. We are scoping out house spots, but we kept finding houses near where we wanted to build. We were trying to get closer to the action of Big Civ and Coast. But we ended up heading out to Portugal again. I think we managed to arrow/hatchet a couple of guys. But for the most part, we gathered resources to start our base. Troy died to radiation at one point and I had all our loot and heading to where we would call home. While on the mountain, I took a wrong turn and ended up in a hole I couldn't get out of. Spent about 30 minutes with me yelling in game and Troy running around the mountain trying to find me. Was driving my wife crazy "HELLO HELLO HELLO. I'M OVER HERE IN THIS HOLE." Troy finally found me and I was able to hand all of our stuff off. We build our base.
Today, there was lots of action. I log on to find out that people with bows had attacked our house and Troy was killing them. Scoring resources along the way. That group seemed to have left and we went hunting again. We were collecting resources, killing the random clothed person we were finding. Then near Big Civ, Troy runs into a guy with some rad gear on. He claimed he was friendly and Troy was holding fire. I was heading in for back up anyway. I see the guy with rad gear and let him go. Then troy is being attacked by a guy in cloth with a shotgun. Troy loses the fight, but I kill that guy. The guy with rad gear shows up and start firing. You know, the friendly we just let go. I get him too. I come back to Troy's body and there is a naked guy with a rock in his pack. I shoot him once. He immediately says in voice chat "Sorry, sorry. Is this yours? Just started. Looking for people to play with too. Sorry. Sorry. I'll leave. I open Troy's pack and it seems undisturbed. I look back at the guy and he's backing away with his rock. I go back to looting Troy. BOOM! Shootgun to the back of my head. "Ha ha. Suck a dick, faggot" comes over voice chat. Troy is already on his way back with a shotgun though. Kills that guy and starts looting. I'm heading back with a shotgun. As I get near, there's gun fire again. Someone kills Troy with an MP5. I come in and the guy has his shotgun out. We exchange fire and I take him out. There are packs of loot everywhere. I start looting grabbing guns and resources. Stopping to look around every 3-5 seconds. Another guy shows up with a shot gun. I get him, but I'm out of med kits now. I grab his gun and ammo and start running away. I'm full with guns, ammo and resources and start heading home. Troy gets there and starts looting leftovers. Someone shows up and they fight. Troy kills him. Not sure of the weapons being used by either. Troy loots the rest of what he finds and heads home. Long drawn out firefight. We recovered all 4 shotguns we took into battle. Scored an MP5 and a bunch of resources. A think we got a couple P250s as well. Over all, it was a win for us, but a hard fought, not very rewarding (in loot) fight. But, it felt really good to get to leave with the most/best loot.
We run back to big Civ again. Troy is ahead of me and is being attacked by two people. They couldn't aim very well and Troy is ducking and weaving. He runs to me at the back of Big Civ and we engage. Once the odds were evened up, we took them out pretty quickly. Nothing major in loot. Another shotgun and more resources. We clear Big Civ and run into a guy with full leather. We corner him in that big barn building and kill him. Another shotgun.
So far, this is a very active 50/100 server. We are doing fairly well. And I will NEVER let another naked live again.

We finally got c4 production on the 100 pop vanilla pvp server after a very nervy and successful airpdrop. I was itching to finally use some, but was waiting for the right time...

Well, I interrupted a major house raid yesterday. I was out scouting when I heard a bunch of c4 going off and investigated a nearby mountain.

I came on them while half were in the house, so I managed to take a few guys down, died, came back, harassed them for a while until I got another kill and then backed off and watched where they took all the loot.

They weren't being very stealthy about it and kept shining flashlights and talking, so sneaking up close was easy.

Anyway, I remembered their stash house, and hit that house this morning with some of our new c4.
