Superman Returns - No spoilers

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Went and saw it Tuesday night. It was pretty cool. I couldn't get into IMAX so I will go back and see it on IMAX.
The story was under developed. They left stuff unexplained as to what happened while Supes was gone and there were some other gaps. After 10 years of development I thought it would be better.
The action was pretty cool and the special effects were well done. The movie was still pretty good. No suprise, they left room for a sequel

It was pretty. The guy playing Supes did a good job. Hope he doesn't get type-cast and then fall off a horse or anything.

Um... that's it.

Oh yeah, Academy Award winning Kevin Spacey did a good job, too.

I don't think the chick playing Lois Lane pulled it off.

She should have had a nude scene. Then I'd have voted for her.

It wouldn't be gratuitous boobies either, since the director's gay and all.

I liked Supes's "I'm back" scene. How he made his re-entrance to the world.

This is a little off-topic.

The saga of the Superman Returns script as only Kevin Smith can tell it. NSFW, lots of language.
Wadda mean? Other people can read this?!

I believe that clip is from "An Evening with Kevin Smith". I reviewed it on the site a while ago. It's worth seeing.

Was thinking about this movie while on the road this week.

This movie can be summed up thusly:

"Superman saves the world by catching things and lifting things."

All he does in that movie is fly, catch stuff, and lift heavy things. If you want to see Superman acting like he's not a pussy, put in your old Superman II DVD.

I liked it. While there are indeed many things that could have been better, the core of the Superman franchise has always been the lead character and his main enemy, and the best movies have always been driven entirely by those two characters. Here they've picked the perfect heirs to both parts. The acting and scripting there was outstanding, and that's what really matters. 9 out of 10.

While I did enjoy this movie, there were some things that were wrong. I'll go into the in the spoilers thread.

Casting was well done, outside of Lois. I agree that while the girl was hot, something was missing. She didn't seem old enough to be as experienced as Lois, and she seemed too "soft".

I also preferred Superman's entrance in Superman (the original). This version was more action packed and had more witnesses, but it didn't have the classic line: "Say Jim, that's one bad outfit!"

I'd give it a 7 out of 10.
