The Contractor (2022)

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

The Contractor (2022)

Post by Leisher »

Chris Pine is a ranger (I think) who gets honorably kicked out of the service. He's broke and has a family to support, so he goes private. Instead of working for one of the bigger private firms he goes with a smaller one run by Kiefer Sutherland. The first mission Pine is sent on is to get some data from a scientist with ties to a terrorist group.

If you've ever seen a movie, then you know what comes next. The film is fine and everyone puts in a strong performance.

It really only has a single problem: "Why?" A moment comes during the film when something completely illogical takes place. It has to or there's no movie. However, if your IQ is above 50, then it's going to bug you for the rest of the runtime. It gets doubled down later too, which makes even less sense.

So Pine is alive, not compromised, and ready for extraction. So Kiefer lies to him...why? Kiefer decides to kill him...why? When Pine is with another of Kiefer's agents, instead of contacting the agent to handle or subdue Pine Kiefer kills him...why? Just really bad writing that could have been fixed with a single scene. Just have a scene where Pine finds out what the scientists real work is BEFORE and refuses to go along with the plan. Then Kiefer's actions would be justified. Also, not sure what Mike was doing at the end, but nobody trained in combat would stand in front of his truck's headlights like that.
