Triggered (2020)

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Triggered (2020)

Post by Leisher »

A group of friends go camping, but wake up to find that they all have explosive devices strapped to their chests. Each has a timer that can only increase if someone else dies and only one is allowed to win the game.

The concept and story idea are really solid. Seriously, no new ground is broken here, but they went in with great ideas. Also, the effects are really strong.

Unfortunately, the execution stumbles. It's not horrible, but it gets murky. Literally. Somehow the entire film takes place at night, which is weird. I don't even remember if they were drugged or what and I just watched the damn thing. Also, because it seems to be raining, without the rain, and it's nighttime everyone looks the same. (And again, nobody in Hollywood seems to own a lighting kit anymore.) It makes it tough to follow who is who. Also, the dialogue gets kind of shitty at points. It doesn't help that sound is a big problem and not done particularly well.

This was a really good effort, but it's not good enough or unique enough to escape its indy roots.
