The Black Phone (2022)

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

The Black Phone (2022)

Has some major IT vibes.

“Every record been destroyed or falsified, books rewritten, pictures repainted, statues, street building renamed, every date altered. The process is continuing day by day. History stops. Nothing exists except endless present in which the Party is right.”

The Black Phone (2022)

Did you grow up in the 70s or 80s? This film will trigger serious memories.

Good film.

The filmmakers kept things very simple. They told a story, let you know the rules of their universe, and then stuck to those rules.

Are there flaws? Yep. However, when a film is done right, you don't spent time thinking about them. Instead you just enjoy the movie.

The direction (Scott Derrickson) is extremely well done. At no point are you ever "lost" by what the movie is showing you. Derrickson also pulls really good performances out of his cast. There's only one time where a performance made me remember this is a kid trying to act a certain way in a movie.

It's probably not the film you think it's going to be based on the image or trailer, but it was a good watch. It invokes memories of at least one other big name film that I'm unable to place at the moment, but it's a positive thought.
