Train (2008)

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Train (2008)

Post by Leisher »

Currently on Prime

A group of American college wrestlers are in Russia competing. After a meet a few sneak out to a party. One thing leads to another and they are forced to catch a later train to their next meet. Unfortunately for them, this train is not going to their destination.

Based on the 4.7 IMDB score, I'm going to be in the minority here, but I enjoyed this movie. I'm sure my run of shitty horror movies lately feeds into that, but this one seemed miles better, in terms of, production and effects. The overall premise, imho, should be the reason for the lower scores. Once you know what's going on, you'll realize it's pretty far fetched and stupid. Particularly...how do I say this without spoilers...in the methods used and the extremely limited information that would be available. I think that's a sentence that makes no sense until you get towards the end of this movie.

Now based upon seeing just a few of the IMDB reviews, this is being called a Hostel ripoff, and yeah, that's fair. It's a movie that came to mind several times while I was watching it. Prep yourself for loads of gore. However, it's a competently made ripoff, and does its job of being an entertaining horror film, so...what's wrong with that?

All the other horror movie clichés are present from people splitting off, dumb characters, weird background players, and so on.

This won't be for everyone. Apparently, it originally got an NC-17 rating due to the huge amounts of gore, so it went straight to DVD. If you hated the torture porn aspects of Hostel, you shouldn't watch this film. If you are fine with that stuff, this isn't a terrible watch.
“Every record been destroyed or falsified, books rewritten, pictures repainted, statues, street building renamed, every date altered. The process is continuing day by day. History stops. Nothing exists except endless present in which the Party is right.”
