I'm not done with the 3rd book yet, but let me just say this:
I mentioned before "Chinese mentalities" coming out in this story.
One of them.... holy shit.... the people in this story are just self-destructive as hell. Every strategic decision they make is... like.... STUPID AS FUCK.... and they only get saved by a hail-Mary right before destuction.
Specifically, I'm thinking of the "the entire human race is at risk, and we have 3 possible plans. But we're only going to try one of them." More specifically, I'm thinking of every time over 300 years there was a crisis, they made "send out an ark (or 1000 of them) of humans as insurance we don't all die out." This was labelled as "Escapism," and was outlawed every single time because.... literally.... it wouldn't be fair to the rest if only 10 million human could be saved.
This happens over and over.
It's insanity. I have a feeling it will end up the reason everyone dies at the end.
