As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

C'mon, we all know it's just a matter of time. These companies weren't going to let this go on forever.
Especially once they started getting more streaming competition.
True, although I don't think we've hit "the streaming wars" just yet. It doesn't feel like it. Feels like all of these companies are still feeling each other and the market out. Once the wars begin, the consumer should ultimately win, but we'll have paid a price as well.

Think so, but never checked that particular scene out. Seems like most people are in it for the fur, ears, and tails, but I bet they aren't that discerning to not hang out with fish and lizard weirdos too.

e: I guess dolphins are even closer to regular furries, being mammals as well

I wonder why Netflix has never made a dating service out of people who like similar shows or something.

Signs Addison Rae to multi-picture deal.

This is significant because she is famous for just making dance videos on TikTok.

It's a brave new world.

Ratings revealed...kinda.

Only for the most popular shows and movies.

The industry needs to figure out something new for shows because the "first 28 days" is a horseshit way to judge the audience for a show.

That's when I will finally watch it.
Yeah, it always takes me a little bit to get back into shows with the long breaks. But I hope it has a decent ending.
Part 1 arrives in January... which implies a Part 2. So wait for that.

I was thinking about it the other day and Netflix is the first streaming service I would drop if I had to drop one.

I went to the article, read that Netflix is testing the ability to give two additional people outside of your household their own login and password for a heavily reduced rate:
Country Basic Standard Premium Extra Member
Peru 24.9 PEN 34.9 PEN 44.9 PEN 7.9 PEN
Costa Rica $8.99 USD $12.99 USD $15.99 USD $2.99 USD
Chile 5940 CLP 8320 CLP 10700 CLP 2380 CLP

Seems fair. They fill a gap where a bunch of people are dodging paying for a service that Netflix provides at a great cost, and they do so for a reduced rate. It's like those people are signing up for Netflix, but at a third or a quarter of the cost.

They have a poll at the bottom asking what people think of this plan. 1406 respondents at the time I write this...
Strongly Approve 7%
Somewhat Approve 6%
Somewhat Disapprove 8%
Strongly Disapprove 76%
Other/No Opinion 3%

I guess it isn't fair to ask people to pay for a service.

The subscribers are paying. The people using the shared passwords, typically, are not. We both know there are people who split the cost and there are people who just give their password away. Very different groups of people.

Now that being said, I will say it's on Netflix to define what a subscription gets you in terms of users and households.

Currently, that's 5 profiles, households and users don't matter.

For streaming, you are allowed:
Netflix Basic ($9.99 per month) — one screen
Netflix Standard ($15.49 per month) — two screens
Netflix Premium ($19.99 per month) — four screens

For downloading content the numbers are the same, except it's for devices allowed to download content.

So it makes all the sense in the world to team up with some other household and sign up for a plan that fits your planned usage. That's on Netflix, not on the people using the service.

However, Netflix has the right to change their terms and they are not dominating the streaming wars at the moment. Disney+/Hulu and HBO Max are serious competition. Additionally, Wall St. was pretty upset to see Netflix's new subscriber numbers not up as high as they would like. (It's almost like there's a finite number of people in the world...) Thus, changes need to be made and asking a bunch of people currently paying nothing or splitting the cost to pay something is the next logical step. That's capitalism, particularly Wall St. driven capitalism.

P.S. 2FA is coming next.

So you're already limiting me. Just stop here with the 5 users + four screens.
