Yeah. Considering 1 camera had the video, and only one... I doubt we'd see it within a month, if ever.
Wait a sec. Given all the times that his near-deaths have been caught on film, it'd seem an awful cocktease NOT to show the one that finally got him.

I was sad when I heard about this news. I liked Irwin and thought he was a great ambassador for the animal kingdom. He wasn't dry like a lot of animal experts and really could reach the kiddies.

But like Malcolm pointed out, he played with dangerous animals for a living, eventually this was going to happen.

As for the video, don't bother looking as you will never see one. I heard on the news that the team (all his friends and family) watched the tape with the authorities and then destroyed it. Good for them.

Didn't take long for that to turn into a Bush-hate-fest.

He appears to be reaching ever so slightly.

I registered to tell him that, but he has a 24-hour waiting period on comments.

Not yet destroyed.
But the fact is, a tape does exist of Irwin's fatal encounter with a stingray while filming a TV show.
...
For its part, Discovery Communications, the network where Irwin became a star, said there was absolutely no truth to rumors that the footage, now in possession of police in Queensland, Australia, might be released.
...
Irwin's manager and close friend, John Stainton, ... said on CNN's "Larry King Live" that he would never want the tape shown publicly.

"I mean, it should be destroyed," Stainton told King on Tuesday evening. Noting the tape now is evidence in a coroner's inquest, Stainton said, "When that is finally released, it will never see the light of day. Ever. Ever. I actually saw it, but I don't want to see it again."

Let's hope it gets destroyed.

Why?

Go watch Faces of Death.

What the hell? People have videos of births, baptisms, birthdays, & other important days. Goddamn, people tape weddings to watch them. Death ain't much different.

What is enormous resistance to putting up a tape of someone's death?

I ain't saying the tape should be released, but I am saying I'd see it.

I, too, would like to see it. With the way he trod the edge of sensationalizing the dangers involved in his work (or, more accuratly, let others in various PR departments sensationalize it) it seems like a needed completion to his body of work.

On the whole, though, I'm more intrigued by seeing how long it is before it shows up online than I am interested in actually watching it.

How is this so bad? This is what kos said.
Not political, I know. Irwin had two small children. I'll never understand parents who put themselves in such positions of danger knowing that a misstep can leave their children without a parent.

It was as predictable as liberal-bashing on this site.

It sounds like a thinly veiled attempt criticizing certain folk that put their balls on the line on a daily basis.

Civilization isn't supposed to be safe. People die. When King Leonidas went to kick the shit out of the Persians, he took three hundred troops, all of whom had children to carry on their lines. The Spartans understood that sometimes in order to make the best potential world for your kids, you need to be willing to die to do it.

My only criticism of that statement is that Stingrays are not actually usually dangerous.

I understand what he is saying about people who put themselves in needless danger. That is different from Police or Firemen.

However, Stingrays are not something I would normally consider dangerous.

I believe a basic purpose of civilization is to provide safety and security for it's citizens.

Whoa. Maybe in the Lockian republic that was popular when the Constitution was written. I don't necessarily want what society deems "safe" or "secure."

Why would anyone want a dangerous society?
