So did they change the beef they used in their sandwiches around the year 2000, or what?

Whoppers used to be incredibly awesome, now they are just bland. I specifically remember when the taste changed. Late 1999/2000.

I think saying it is beef is giving the sandwich alot of credit.

Having just eaten Wendy's for lunch, I'm going with an industry wide bland epidemic.

I can't remember the last time I was in one of those places.

So, what you are saying Gordon, is that you like the pre-uo:r burgers better?

I think they changed the steroid levels to something lower and screwed everything up.

We got some place called 5 guys that just opened up around here. My wife was like "Let's get a burger"

I like burgers.

So we went. I was like "mmmm, chesseburgers." Wonder what cheeses they have?

American.

Only.

Well, if it's a burger place, maybe I can get it done a certain way.

Well.

Only.

It was a burnt piece of ass. The worst burger I've ever had.

The Double Whopper is still my favorite burg. Same amount of carbs, twice the protein.

They also have hot dogs now, don't know if permanent. I've tried each iteration, including the new "Whopper Dog" which has all the toppings that go on a Whopper. Kind of expensive for $2-2.50 each, but again, adequate. They run them through the broiler so you get that "off the grill" taste.

I miss their french fries from the late-90's era.

I got one of their dogs last weekend (prior to the Whopper dog being released). It was a chili dog with cheese. I took one bite and threw the rest away. Fucking vile.

I'm willing to blame the specific restaurant. Maybe they had an old one they gave me or something.

I'd be willing to try the Whopper one, but doing hot dogs in this market takes balls. Tony Packo's and Rudy's are staples here.

ON a more positive note, I do like the Angry Whopper. The red bun is weird as hell, not for looks, but density... Still, the rest of the sandwich is good.

Whoppers are a good fast food burger choice when there's no Sonic or Whataburger around. I tried their dogs and they weren't bad but they weren't as good as JC Grill (Sonic are right on par, I'd say). And the Angry Whopper is nothing next to the Sonic Island Fire burger; that was the most delicious thing you could put in your faceholes.

As I write this post, I realize that I guess what I'm really trying to say is Sonic is good food. That's not where I expected this to go.

I used to love Sonic. I have fond memories from it back when I lived down south. Then they came up here...

I've gone to two different locations. Worst fast food ever.

I need to give it another shot maybe? We need a Sonic thread.

Let me know when you start posting food threads in the food forum. I see nothing except toxic waste dumps with uniformed employees so far.

Hey look I found an ancient BK thread in GenStuff and moved it to Food and then merged it with a newer BK thread.

Forum wizardry.

I like 5 Guys when I am in the mood to spend $12 on a burg and fries.
