Trying to get back in the pool this summer, here's hoping. Signed up for a triathlon next year.

My local lap pool has become overcrowded. It really sucks

Same here. They have a reservation system and things go fast. Fortunately, we have the neighborhood pool for the summer.

Do you still use that swimming-tie thing at your mom's place?

Swam 750 yds this morning, first time back. Did a 500, 100 breast, 50 sprint, 100 easy.

Putting my shorts on after swimming, could definitely feel it in my shoulders. Honestly, about 100 yds in they were feeling it.

You have a pretty big yard... :D

I need to get back to Speedo shape. My beach trunks are like swimming with a parachute on.

Said fuckit, put the Speed on anyway. It... didn't burst.

Swam 1000 yards, felt good to be faster.

4th time out swimming today. Decided to go for a continuous 1000 yds, longest before had been 500 yds.

Hit 1000, and was feeling good, so went for 1200. Hit 1200, and felt good so kept going to 1500. At 1500, figured - Hey, may as well go for 1800 yds (a mile).

1800 yds 32:00, not bad.

At the beach, so only have a half distance kinda pool. Did arm only swims. And then did arm only single length sprints (10s each). Wore my arms out pretty quickly.

30:50 today. But man I feel tired afterwards. Also, got a new Garmin Swim 2 watch. Tracks HR underwater which is kinda neat. I used to have to pause and take my pulse to get my rate. HR averaged about 145 for the mile.

29:38 today. Garmin says my HR avg'd 128, which seems low for that much exercise. I certainly couldn't have pushed myself harder, but maybe that's just a function of my arm muscles. SWOLF of 34, 1:39/100 yds.

Our youngest (10) and I did a 0.5 to 0.6 mile swim today in open water (lake). Was about 50 degrees outside, water was around 76, and felt pretty cool. Mostly nice, but my feet were cold. I swam slowly to stay with her, and we finished in about 17:30. A group of women from the UNC water polo team were in our heat of 24 people, and stomped the group. The fastest was 10:30.

Only four dudes entered, so I won the men's group and won a glass! (24 entrants, 20 women, 4 men)

I had originally signed up for the 1 mile swim, but downgraded when my daughter wanted to swim it so we could swim together. We swam together for the majority, then I sprinted the end bit a little.

I have to enjoy this time while I can still win :)

Overall, she did well. We swam a decent amount of breaststroke (10 to 20%) as the lake was a little ripply (few inches) for sighting buoys and breathing.

So my routine got blasted years ago when covid lockdowns started (thank god we got it eradicated then), and I've had a hard time reestablishing my swim schedule. 90% of it is screwing up the motivation to start again.

Anyway, I'm in the pool today, me in my lap lane, 50 senior citizens in the main part dancing to aqua zoomba, or whatever.

They're jamming out to "Love Shack," by the B-52s.

At the appropriate part, 50 people over the age of 70 all shout "Tiiiin roof, rusted!"

Fuck, I'm old.
