You probably can't do it, so don't even try.

Finally got my head straight and started hitting the pool again a few weeks ago. Took about two weeks, but I can do laps without resting for 15-20 minutes at a time, now. I'm going a full hour with some sprints at the end, and feel good.

SO I decided to replace the battery in my Garmin Swim watch and start recording my laps, again.

Pro tip: when you replace the battery, and put the back cover back on, make sure it snaps down TWICE. Just once will fill it with water in a lap.

It's in rice. Fingers crossed.

I didn't get this reference until now. In Cocoon they weren't eggs, they were stasis pods. Duh.

Not looking good. Back-battery compartment is dry, but I still have fog/droplets behind the face. So.

Still a little foggy behind the face, but the damn thing powered up. I was giving it one more chance before I threw it out and got a new one.

Neat!

Couple more days in the rice though.

Good! But I will say I liked the Swim 2, if you still have the original Swim. Too bad I lost mine last Fall :(

was looking at Swim2. At $225+ it looked like the most expensive one out there.

I was sort of intrigued by the $35 ones with no known brand name with high reviews. Screams SCAM but you know, one likes to believe in miracles.

But as long as my original Swim1 works, I'll stick with it. I don't like dumping tech that's still getting it done.

Watch works! Yay. It was completely flooded. Spent about 5 days in rice.

10,600 yards in the pool this week, and that doesn't even count cooldown laps. New PR.

10,975 yards this week.

Damn. I felt slow as hell today, just low energy. I forgave myself as it was Friday, 3rd swimming day in a row, and I did 10k yards this week. I allowed myself to just go slow and finish the workout. And I did 1:55 per 100 yards, the fastest I've ever gone. What feels slow now is actually faster than I used to go. Neat.

I wanted to see what 5 days in a row felt like.

15,275 yards, not counting cooldown laps.

8.68 miles over 5 days. Approximately 5 hours. 1.74 mph. My goal is 2mph.

That's a lot of swimming. Good job! I'm trying to get back in the pool, but life has been busy.

My annual back in the pool post. Swam 6x100s (negative 2s splits on each 100) Tuesday, then 5x100s (positive splits about 1s on each) and 1x500 today.

I did manage a 1:31 100, which isn't bad for 2nd day back. The 500 pace was pretty bad, but whatever, working my way back.

And... back again. 4th day back. I'm slow + terrible. But I dropped a minute from my 900 yard swim last week to this week (a god awful 17:52 to a still awful 16:56). I've never been a fast distance swimmer, but I used to swim a mile sub-25.

Switched to jammers from board shorts. I either dropped 19 seconds or I dropped about 69 seconds. The latter seems more correct. My Swim 2 dropped enough distance that I wasn't sure if I swam 900 or 950 today. I'd really like to get back to at least a 30 minute mile.
