ALL laws created by legislature (outside of murder, rape, theft and all flavors thereof) have a 1-year sunset clause. If the law is not repassed at the end of that year, the law dissappears.

If there becomes so many laws that all the legislature's time is spent re-passing old laws and has no time for new bidness, too bad.

I'd go so far as to suggest that for every five times a law has been repassed, it gains an extra year on life. So after five repasses, it starts to have a 2-year life, then after 10 repasses (15 years) it starts to have a 3-year life, etc.

I'm all about no taxation, and therefore no money for government to spend, and therefore, no incentive for anyone to join government.

It's like my homeowner's association. There's no dues, so there's no homeowner's association. I think they sent out a newsletter in June 2003, but that's the last I've heard.

One of Heinlein's characters made a lot of good suggestions. Example: have the legislature be two houses. One house passes laws, and requires a 2/3 majority. The other house does nothing but repeal laws, and only needs 1/3 vote to repeal.

Professer Bernardo de la Paz in The Moon is a Harsh Mistress

Should be required reading for anyone wanting to be listed on a ballot in America II, IMO. That and Starship Troopers.
