I think back to when I bought my 32" TV about... 10 or 12 years ago now.The 1080p was pretty new and added about $100 to a TV over a 720p. Then I ran across an article that referenced a study about the human eye. the 1080 vs 720 debate was really pointless until you got up into at least a 42" TV. The human eye is biologically incapable of seeing a difference until at least 42" and then you're in a great minority. The rods and cones in the eye just aren't densely spaced enough to tell the difference. So all of that has me wondering today how much of a difference 4K really makes until you get really big screened. I hear a lot of talk about it and see them on the wall and I admit they look great, but a new 1080p looks really great compared to 8 years ago as well. How much of it is 4k and how much is just greater technology?

Just food for thought. I know in the video world right now, the most practical use for a 4k camera currently is being able to zoom and pan some in picture without a loss of pixels. If you do any video editing in 4k, prepare for your PC to become a tortoise.

Along those lines...

per this chart you're going to need monitors approx 50" sitting at 3' away to be able to tell a difference.

That's why I usually stream at 720 instead of higher, with my 38-inch TV in my apartment living room. The difference isn't noticeable anyway and there's never a need to buffer.

I always thought it was 32". That's why 32" is the "standard" for smallest TVs.

I'm strongly leaning towards the 34" curved Dell right now. Biggest screen, cheapest, tech on par with everything else, highly rated, etc.

Now I have to see if Dell offers a stand that holds 4 monitors.

Yeah, that's either in response to the Amazon price (linked in my earlier post) or vice versa.

Tidbit: Dell will match it, but it apparently comes out of your sales rep's money. That is shit. If I run into Michael Dell in Vegas I plan to address it.

Nah, that doesn't infuriate me like MS's moves are infuriating me.

I haven't lost months of productivity due to them auditing me.

Plus, I have emailed Michael Dell before, got an immediate response, and had my issue resolved within a week.

Nah, it was either 40" or 42". Pretty sure it was 42", but not 100%. I knew at the time I was going to be in for either a 30 or 32" and after reading the article knew I wasn't close to being able to tell a difference with 1080p.

You shouldn't need a stand necessarily from Dell if they use the standard VESA mounts. Even if they don't, there are usually 3rd party VESA adapters. I recently upgraded to 2 27" HP monitors and was looking at a dual monitor stand at that time and looked around Amazon and found the needed adapters for mounting. Ended up with a desk with enough tabletop space not to need it in my case.

I'm redoing my entire office. I'm gutting the place to make room for my new PC...and little ones that want to have their computers setup right next to mine. I also have to make room for a futon and TV so my wife and I can escape the kids.

Plus, I've got a bunch of awesome wall art I can't hang as my office currently exists.

I'll post pics once it's all done.

Awesome.

My wife called them "ridiculous", so I knew they were great.

I, literally, have to turn my head to look at different sides of the screen when playing Rust.

By the way, did I offer up the 980 in this thread? It's gone. Cake picked it up this weekend.

Still waiting on Falcon to quote me on the machine with the 1080 Ti. Sit tight for the 1080 Stranger.

I'm in no hurry, I just can't believe that you are really going to give me a 1080!!

I'll have to start playing some other games besides League and see what that 1080 can really do.

Never got into Overwatch. It was just a less visually pleasing Team Fortress 2 with characters meant to emulate LoL's.
