No one who is actually associated with our movement would do something that would prompt a massive law enforcement response.

Why? They got an ethical kill switch installed or something?

Howard Stringer: "Our bad, and we informed you as soon as we knew."

Which is incorrect, because I was reading press releases to 3rd parties days before I ever got an email. If I hadn't been reading info from these 3rd parties, I wouldn't have known for 3 more days to change my credit card.

Apparently we'll be getting emails soon to sign up for a year of identity theft protection.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011....bix-inc

I'm going to try to get my time reimbursed for the time it took me to cancel that card, and the inconvenience of not having it for a week. I also had to jump through some hoops because that was the card I use for Netflix recurring payments, dtman.com payments, amazon preorders, etc.

And then there's the problem of all the personal data and security question info being out there.

Oh, and peeps are expecting Sony to update their UELA when the network comes back up to require you to waive your right to sue when you put in your new password. Might want to wait a day or two before you do so.

However, Sony Europe spokesperson Nick Caplin has revealed that PSN members will be offered a choice of two from five free PlayStation 3 games as an apology, whilst PSP users will be offered two from a choice of four titles.

Yeah, that approximately balances out your identity potentially getting jacked and all the shyte that comes with resetting that.

In other news, I just learned PS3 Media Server has been being worked on by some other group, and you can get more recent versions here:

http://www.ps3mediaserver.org/

Personally, the version I have is working and I want to see some feedback on these new versions before I change anything.

Sony turning PSN back on, country by country, up through May 31.

And I'm still not being informed by Sony, only through 3rd parties.

I am officially jaded about Sony at this point, and am not going to be purchasing another PS3 for different media centers.

So my PS3 wants to do a software update now, I assume so I can log back into the PSN.

Has anyone heard what the patch is? I don't want to run it blind.

From what I have read it is just new security on their end and it forces everyone to change their password before they begin using it again.

Here is was playstation europe said was going to be offered on their blog.(It was later taken down)

You get 2 of the following games.

LittleBigPlanet
Infamous
Wipeout HD/Fury
Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty
Dead Nation

Pretty ballsy to limit your compensation to two games from a list of five after they've exposed your identity to potentially hundreds or thousands of criminals.

Plus, at least one of those games (Wipeout) was already made available for free to PSN Premium users.

I'll take Little Big Planet though.

Going to take infamous and ratchet and clank probably. Little Big Planet is fun but I already have it.

We get Super Star Dust HD instead of Ratchet and Clank which sucks. So now I don't know what else I will chose beside infamous.
