I had switched all of my home pages to DuckDuckGo many moons ago. I did this at work and home.

Today I realized Google was my default new tab page again both places. How long has it been like this? Did a Chrome update do this? All my other tabs open as normal.

Strange.

My Pixel 4XL had the back of the phone start separating. I've also dropped it a couple of times, so it has some pretty noticeable scratches on top.

Talked to Google today, and they said they would replace it under warranty. Was afraid they might deny due to "abuse" of having been dropped.

DO you purchase the protection plan? I do through Fi, it's $5 per month. Supposedly covers everything.

I did, but that still requires a copay if it's my fault. Warranty means no pay. And the purchase protection doubles the warranty length, which is nice.

Not saying it's related, but the Feds are going after Google for not allowing a free market for search engines.

I'm sure that's entirely unintentional.

The kid and i.tried to watch HBO's "Raised By Wolves," last night.

Before it started, we quipped, "How will this future SciFi show shoehorn in the 1921 Tulsa Race Riots?"

Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence... Google search minimizing white males is enemy action?

Google has a "Subscription sale" going on...

$15 a month gets you:
- Pixel 4a
- Device protection
- A phone "upgrade" in 2 years. I need to do a little more research on that. Like, maybe it's a 6a, and you keep paying 15 a month?

Anyway, since I'm already paying $5 a month for device protection, my bill would only go up 10 a month and I'd upgrade my Pixel 2 for a Pixel 4a. This seems like a pretty good deal for me. You think there will be a better one for black friday?

https://fi.google.com/about/phone-subscription

edit - The UpgrayDD:
After 24 monthly payments, you fully own your phone. At that time, you decide if you want to stay in the program and receive the next device in the subscription program as an upgrade. If you don't upgrade, your monthly payment reduces to device protection only.
This seems like a pretty good deal. A new Pixel 4a for $240.

Pulled the trigger. My current phone is over 2.5 years old, battery lasts about 4 hours with constant surfing, and the app icons are getting burned in to the screen.

Trading it in will get me $58 in google credit.

Let me know how you like it. My daughter's phone is a 3, but the screen is cracked, so I was thinking of just getting her a Pixel 4A for Christmas or such.

When I ordered, IIRC, they estimated delivery in mid November.
