War with China
War with China
"How is this not an act of war?" is repeated on this forum frequently, when China does some devious shit.
Here's a list of things that suggests to me that the western powers may be getting ready to make a move on China:
1. COVID. Yeah, official sources, which never lie, have said this wasn't a purposely-made virus aimed at the USA. And as they never lie, we know that this isn't a factor at all. But imagine if the opposite were true, and we had solid evidence that it was released on purpose. What would the US do about it?
2. Maybe restructure the USMC to be better suited to fight a war kicking China off it's territory-expanding islands?

3. Start moving naval assets into the region, challenging China and their single carrier?

4. But that's silly. China hasn't really done anything worthy of declaring war. They're quite peaceful, really.

5. And I'm not the only one looking for a pattern in the chaos. "It's likely."

War with China
So.... what happens if war were declared?
No one expects China could touch the CONUS with boots on the ground (unless they copy "Red Dawn" and come in through a duplicitous Mexico), and probably not with conventional aircraft. Texas would probably enjoy the opportunity to be let off the chain. Anyone have a rifle count for Texas citizens?
Everyone knows we have several air groups, and 3 divisions of Marines with landing craft, and boots on the ground on the Chinese mainland are very possible.
Everyone says, though, for what they lack in boats, they make up for in missiles. They say they can overwhelm any battlegroup before they get within 300 miles of China. Maybe.... but I think maybe not. USA anti-missile tech has evolved a lot in the time since that famous wargame.
Plus, as famous as the hacking successes in the USA are, one wonders how much better at it US actors are, at already being inside Chinese systems, both civilian and military. Like how Israel seems to pretty much own Iranian uranium enrichment programs, flipping the "break shit" switch on a regular basis.
So let's assume US cyber warfare capabilities are better than any of us have considered.
Second fear from China: ballistic nuclear-capable missiles. Supposedly the USA has some anti-ballistic tech, last I heard it was 50% effective. But, if China start lobbing missiles, it's game over, for them. Not only is the USA more than able to respond, matching their nuclear arsenal with our submarines alone, the rest of the nuclear-powered world probably won't be too pleased with them.
Unfortunately, this also takes a first-strike-EMP off the table t=for the USA as well, unless we had backroom alliances that said "We'd only use it for the EMP effect, to knock CHina out before they start." Of course, China may have already secured their own secret deals, and this system of secret alliances could get out of hand Great War-style. Even so, the USA still has more military might than all of them put together, so it's still a risky gambit to play against it.
I've said for a long time that whatever tech you know the military has, secretly they're already playing 20 years more advanced. Area 51 is still pretty secret, and that's the place everyone knows about. Alaska is a big state, with lots of remote areas.
So... yeah. I think the USA could be making a move.

I like how we have a bomber squadron that can take off in Missouri, bomb something on the other side of the planet, then land in Missouri and the bomber crew missed like one dinner at home with the family.

Honestly, who else is the U.S. military supposed to prep to fight?
Also, China is the clear winner of "Biggest threat to humanity, democracy, and business interests" so...
Do we get to void our debt to them if we beat them in a war?

Part of the reason things are particularly edgy right now amid the semiconductor chip shortage.
Tiny island, best in world chips.
https://www2.deloitte.com/content/dam/D ... 082820.pdfTaiwan has well-developed semiconductor clusters. It is one of the few regions in the world with a depth and breadth of semiconductor clusters packed into a small geographical area. Taiwan's cluster effect has great advantages for semiconductor development, which focuses on vertical integration and cooperation between different industries. Taiwan is very strong and competitive in chip manufacturing and IC design and has the world's
biggest foundry and most advanced semiconductor manufacturing process technology competitive in chip manufacturing and IC design and has the world's biggest foundry and most advanced semiconductor manufacturing process technology

China is chip hungry and getting worse. Why can't they manufacture more locally?
War with China
Within about 2 years that picture will be different. Many countries are investing billions in their own chip production, because of the recent shortages, and because of the coming war with china.

Because just stealing technology doesn't make you an expert at using it.

By the way, my comparison of China to Pakleds is brilliant.

To be fair, I'm betting John Cena's corporate overlords picked their side.
And even if they didn't, imagine him just saying "Fuck China". Who would work with him? Any chance of a movie or TV show with him in it would immediately have zero shot of being aired in China.
As long as every other government in the world bends over and let's China violate them, freedom of speech regarding China simply does not exist.
US is moving an aircraft carrier group away from Asia and every media outlet in the universe is reporting on it.
First of all, why the fuck are such moves so highly publicized? Whatever happened to "loose lips sink ships"?
Secondly, between the destroyer trolling China and now the U.S. pretending to leave the room, are we goading them? OR is this a possible show of good faith to deescalate tensions?
