Whatever, you're raping those women by paying them.

Also, you are oppressing them if you are not paying them.

New York State looking to raise taxes
Gov. Andrew Cuomo proposed raising taxes for the wealthiest New Yorkers to a top rate of 10.86%, up from 8.82%.

New York City residents would pay a top rate of 14.7% in state and local taxes, the highest income tax rate in the nation, Cuomo said Tuesday in an address unveiling his 2022 budget.

The tax increase is part of a multi-pronged plan to reduce the state’s historic budget deficit due to the Covid pandemic.
5.25% in NC looking better all the time.

Added jobs or just brought back jobs that were paused by covid?

This says a "new batch" of stimulus checks started going out today.

Brand new batch, or just a continuation of the last batch?

edit - i think i got fooled by a faked url. But it was an article google suggested to me.

Foxconn backs out of Wisconsin.

One has to wonder if this was the plan all along, if Trump not winning re-election affected it, or if Biden's "staying strong against China" was the catalyst.

Car shortage equals rising prices.

With a global microchip shortage, one would think the federal government would be giving incentives to build a new plant.

I tried to get my dad to sell his 20 year old used car he never drives any more, but he wouldn't. Almost tempting for me to sell my car, since I barely drive, but I need it just enough.

Another round of stimulus checks going out.

Meanwhile, I'm sure you're all aware of the "worker shortage" affecting mostly the service industry? People are being paid more by the government to stay home, so they're doing just that. Wasn't this brought to light during the summer of 2020? How has it not been addressed yet?

I guess Biden's administration is also toying with the idea of paying people to get vaccinated.

These articles are confusing.... i think this is just another batch of the round-3 checks that have been going out for months.

They do mention "add ons" or "catchups", whatever they call them. However, they are claiming this is indeed a "new" payment.

All I know is that restaurants, in particular, are suffering from employee shortages because people are making more money to stay home. That means the government is negatively affecting private businesses, and somebody should have done something to resolve the issue by now.

Yeah, the current unemployment addon was too high. Things are basically OK.

So it seems every day I'm seeing an article about "we short staffed because no one wants to work any more." Then there are the usual arguments, "Well if *place* paid a living wage people wouldn't be content to live on unemployment forever."

Either way.... are we heading toward:

1. All formerly-low-paying jobs just starting peeps at $17 an hour,

2. The free money spigot will dry up, and we'll be back to minimum wage slavery,

or

3. A permanent system of "guaranteed basic income" that isn't actually called that, because it's too close to socialism?

Have there been any indications that the stimulus payments made a difference in anything, aside from increased CO2 output? No snark, serious questions.

A lot of people who couldn't work due to school/daycare closure, or due to drop in employment, etc did not lose their homes. The economy is certainly stimulated.

We still have millions of jobs to make up. The free money ends in September, iirc. and should. If not earlier.

I'm definitely pro increasing the minimum wage. Where we are a lot of places are paying $12-15 for entry level stuff anyway. And boy can you tell who isn't.
