If you offered Walmart employees, who would qualify for subsidized health care, a raise to offset the healthcare subsidization, they wouldn't spend it on health care. These are people who have already demonstrated they don't make good decisions.

72% of unvaxed workers would quit if there was a vax mandate.

That could be troubling to corporate America that is already struggling to find workers.

This guy wonders why nobody is worried about the housing market.

He has a point. Who the hell is buying all the houses considering everything else going on with the economy?

According to the people in our neighborhood, foreigners and investors.

I heard a person comment recently that the problem with the ports in CA was that they just passed an emissions law that took half the semi trucks off the roads, and now there aren't enough left to clear the ports.

Anyone hear anything like that?

Well, kicking half the trucks off the road might cause a trucker labor shortage.

Yeah, I have heard nothing about that, and the Journal would be all over it if true.

My company relies upon truck drivers and their companies. I have heard "labor shortage" for a long time. In fact, in 2019 I was hanging instruction signs for truck drivers in English, Spanish, and French because even at that time they were hiring lots of foreign workers to fill the gaps in their employment. It's worse now.

Imports in the US are up very much since pre-pandemic, roughly 8-10%. August hit 287B, well over the 260B average of 2018-2019, which is contributing pretty significantly to the port (and now warehouse) issue.

Americans are in record debt.

This will end well.

Biden admin announces solution to bottleneck at ports.

This sounds like pure political dick wagging and nothing that will solve shit.

Just take over part of Mexico, and build a port there with giant warehouse + a super highway to the US :)

Someone tell Elon Musk there's a shitload of money to be made, here. He'll have a new gigaport up and running in 3 months.

Maybe he doesn't want to deal with the Longshoremen, though.
