Troll Hunter - Yay Netflix!

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

A mockumentary that takes place in Norway.

A group of college filmmakers decides to investigate the killing of a bear. In Norway, you have to be licensed to kill bears, and you are assigned the task by the government. However, nobody knows who killed this bear, and one man is fingered by the official bear hunters as a poacher, and the likely killer. Thus, the film crew decides to follow this guy, and they soon realize, he isn't a bear poacher, but something much, much more.

I went into this movie thinking it would suck, but wanted to see it for curiosity's sake. I mean it's a mockumentary with freakin' trolls. I wanted to see just how cheesy they looked.

Holy shit was I stunned to see that this movie was pretty entertaining and really well made. Everyone involved brings their A game. The troll hunter himself is just awesome, and really makes you believe he's the real deal. He is as realistic as a troll hunter can be, and not over the top even a little. It's perfect.

The plot details about who he is, who he works for, how they cover the existence of the trolls up, keep them contained, etc. is all really well done aside from a few holes here and there.

Massive kudos to this group for actually showing their creatures in full view and in long uninterrupted shots unlike other mockumentaries like Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity. The special effects are actually quite outstanding.

Despite a few tense moments, I wouldn't call this a horror film, but more in the real of Sci-Fi.

This sounds crazy, but this movie really captured my imagination. I highly recommend it.

This is a vastly superior thread to the other one on the same subject.

Decent, although you figure you'd go in the with heavier lights to take out things that size. It's not that hard to make a UV strobe with multiple bulbs, like a photon gatling gun. Things seemed kind of rushed at the end, but the press conference with the Norwegian politicians at the end was good. "We all know Norwegians hate power lines, but ..."

Hilarious.
