A girl gets committed to an insane asylum by a stepfather who wants to shut her up. She escapes into her own fantasies.
Through the movie I was smiling at the dreamscapes she sent herself into. 10 feet tall Samari warriors with chainguns vs. Little blonde schoolgirls with katanas..... World War II B-29 vs. A dragon while assaulting a castle full of orcs with machine guns. Sword-wielding schoolgirl commandos assaulting undead German mecha zombies in the World War I trenches with a hot asian girl in a suit of mech armor for support.
There are a couple layers of reality in the movie, and I spent most of it wondering what exactly was going on. In the end it ended up being sort of a bummer movie and I should stop watching so many bummer movies.
This flick got a lot of flack for "sucking," but I thought it was worth seeing for the fantasy vignettes alone. Very extremely cool.

Sucker Punch
I watched this movie a year or so ago. It was pretty good, but I wasn't quite in the mood for what it is. Admittedly, I had no idea what it was about when I started watching it, I think I had confused it with another movie.
Gordon's right, the vignettes are pretty stellar, certainly the best part of the movie.
As a whole, I'd give it a "interesting, but not great"

It's not me, it's someone else.
Here's what Rotten Tomatoes says:
I agree. Too much on the vignettes kinda leaves you not caring about the characters.
Plus, none of the girls gets naked.
t's technically impressive and loaded with eye-catching images, but without characters or a plot to support them, all of Sucker Punch's visual thrills are for naught.
