I am hearing great things about Space Rangers 2.

Pretty shocking that I've never heard of it before or its predecessor. SP2 comes with the original, which is nice.

The gameplay is apparently a mish mash of everything. PCGamer gave the game a 92% rating and described gameplay by saying it's a turn based strategy game where you can find yourself playing an RTS or a graphic text adventure. Wild.

At $30, this might be one to check out until Supreme Commander hits the shelves.

Anyone else ever heard of this game or the original?

I just bought it, but haven't installed it yet. Probably won't get to it for a week or so due to family being in town.

I had it in my hand the other day, but it was the CD version and Oblivion was in stock with the DVD version.

I'm going out of my way to only buy games on DVD, now.

It was only 2 CDs so no big deal.

I have already installed it. Might give it a run tonight.

Oh, 2 cd's? That aint so bad.

I went to amazon.com today and had it in my cart and was checking out... and at the very last second I realized I was about to buy Space Rangers 1 on DVD... not 2. Looking twice I couldn't see a DVD version of Space Rangers 2 at all. It may not exist.

I've emailed the company HQ in england to ask. They'll let me know, I'm sure.

Actually, part 1 comes with part 2. It's on a third CD, but got bad reviews.

Seems to be a pretty deep game too. Might be the space game you've been searching for.

Since I already have it in, I guess I'll keep it. Still, I'm a bit pissed. Of course, this hit before the Star Force backlash so I can't hold it against the developer too much.

If I get a response from the company, I'll reply and ask if they have a star force-free version. Just to make a point.

I was pondering a post on their forums telling them this would be the last game of their's I bought until I know they dropped Star Force.

Actually from a forum I frequent there is a non-starforce version you can get from direct 2 drive. But this aint first hand knowledge as I haven't tried it but it's something to look into if you want the game.

So anyone else play this yet?

I tried it out last night, and got a little frustrated with it.

Prolly should have read the manual.

It's a big manual.

I've played a bit and enjoyed what I did play. I think the problem I ran into initially is my time is limited and there is a LOT to this game. Due to it not having a really smooth path for beginners, I've put it aside knowing I'll need to have some time to learn it.

Seriously, and they always want my ship to be more flamboyant.

Do you know how expensive rave lights and ectasy tabs are?

Hint to anyone who plays: I'd recommend your first game not be as a pirate.

Here's a summary of my first game:
Pirate gets mission, finishes it, goes boom when others come after him.
Reload.

Quit.
