Microsofts pivots toward gaming, releases another Age of Empires, and then their next 2 big budget games don't make much and they decide there's no money in gaming. I've seen it at least twice. They act like they have no capital to weather a couple mediocre titles, and stop investing.

Their inability to do more in the gaming market is one of the most mindboggling things I've ever seen in business. Not only do they continually show a lack of understanding of the market and consumer, but also their own products.

I really should apply to go work for Phil Spencer. Getting the PC gamers on board will be tough, due to past misdeeds, but beating Sony is kind of a no brainer. It actually shocks me that MS hasn't used their core competencies to push them out of the market years ago.

Not for MS' success, but for Apple's stagnation. The Vision Pro seems to be a disaster. They've done nothing with Apple TV, and I'd argue it's gotten them more positive headlines than any other product over the past 10 years. How much money was spent on the often discussed and since cancelled...maybe...Apple gaming console that never appeared? There's been no innovation in their iPhone or iPad divisions since day 1. The most innovative thing and top feature of their Mac line is the ability to run Windows. Even their marketing has sucked since Jobs died.

Microsoft became the second company ever to end the trading day valued at more than $3 trillion, reflecting investors’ confidence in an old tech company leading the AI revolution.

I saw another thing yesterday they were reducing the games division already.

How Phil Spencer keeps his job, I have no idea.
