I read a while back a recollection of an engineer who went to do a contract in China sometime in the... 80's? 90's?
After the Chinese engineers with whom he was working got to know him, they pulled him aside out of earshot of their bosses and asked... "Was it true, did America really land on the moon?"

Stossel seems shocked that those who believe in it don't want to hear anything from those with a differing opinion.

It's a longstanding liberal "debate" tactic. Shout as loudly as you can at your opponent until he shuts the hell up.
It's because they don't have anything resembling the truth on their side on just about any issue you can name. If they were smart enough to understand the logic of debate, they would be smart enough to stop being liberals.
