Kinda...

They're just protecting their licenses. It sucks because it's fun to see things like Red versus Blue, but at the same time, RvB makes money for folks who don't actually own the characters they're using.

It'd be like DC/WB making a Spider-Man movie.

I just hope Microsoft doesn't act like dicks with their properties. They should allow little guys to call them to get permission to use them, and base their license fee on total sales with a sliding percentage based on profit.

MS has long been a huge supporter of RvB. They won't be doing anything to them.

Exactly.

This isn't about MS shitting on everyone, which is what the asshats on Twitter are saying. This is just about protecting your property.

The fact that the announcement was focused on "don't make money off it without permission" instead of "don't mess with our stuff" is a very good sign that they aren't starting down the road to Dickville here.

I love to hate MS as much as the next person, but there's nothing in this particluar thing to hate them for. Yet.
