I didn't know holograms were this far along.

Nintendo had a holographic Link at E3 many years ago.

I don't know about this in particular, but I do know they've gotten very good at doing projections on 2D surfaces that look very convincing from angles up to almost 20 degrees from the perpendicular view. But those aren't real holograms and from the side you'd just see the edge of the plane on which it is projected.

How do I know that's a hologram and not on a movie screen? No frame of reference from that clip that I could see.

Ah, I assumed it was full 3d. I was going to order a Salma Hayak hologram to superimpose over my wife, ghosting her movements.
