I got an identical motherboard to replace my old one that died. I hooked everything up and since it was the same board everything came up right away except for the sound.
I checked the master volume to make sure it wasn't muted and the speakers are on. They also worked just a couple of days ago so I don't believe it is them.
I have read online that if the front panel audio connect has something plugged into it then that can disconnect the back but I don't have anything plugged into it.
I have also gone online and downloaded the audio drivers and reinstalled them and checked the device manager and I don't have any exclamation marks next to my audio devices.
I also checked the bios and made sure the RealTek Audio was enabled.
What could I have not plugged in or disconnected that would turn off the sound?
New Motherboard Issue.
Yeah, my bet is some kind of switch that turns the sound off at one point in the pipeline. Could be the on the board, in the BIOS, in some obscure config menu. Who knows...

I was thinkingthat. The first couple I built had the jumper... the last couple I built had the setitng in the bios.Vince wrote:I'd doubt it's a jumper if the mo-bo is still available for purchase. I can't remember the last time I saw that done w/ a jumper.
