I just do a reinstall. Dell had so much crap that just starting Windows XP took 300MB of RAM, versus 100MB for a clean install.

I believe it actually used to be called the DELL PC Decrapifier, because the dude bought a lot of Dells, and they were loaded up with bullshit.
But Dell didn't approve of his choice of names.
