I already have the monitor and DVD drive.
Will this stuff work together? Anything you would change? Right now it is about what I would like to spend but if there is some part out there that would be a better buy and is only a few bucks more I would switch.
Also I would be interested in hearing opinions on what you think the performance of this setup would be. I don't need to run half life 2 at optimal settings but I would like to be able to play games and have them look nice and not slow down.

Yeah the list is on newegg and I posted this list on another sites asking for opinions but it doesn't let you use the link in your post. Since it was long and I didn't want it to be broken up on the site I used tinyurl.com to make it postable on other sites.

I don't know anything about the video card or motherboard. Have never heard of/used either brand.
1. I would spring the extra bucks and get an ASUS.
2. I like BFG (as you know) because of the life time warrenty. Granted, I've never had a video card go bad regardless of the brand. . . but still. And I don't know what the GS means. Can't find any bench mark tests to show how it compares to the GT and others.
3. I would definately spend a couple extra dollars, or wait for a SATA 2 3.0Gbs drive hits your price range (sale/rebates). Big performance difference between ATA (PATA) and SATA. You can find decent sized drives in the 50-80 range. Staples just had one for 70 that included a SATA card (which you wouldn't need).

I really like XFX video cards, good experience with them. The GS is a bit slower than the GT, but nearly as fast, and a better performer per $. 256MB is what you should get for a 6800.
The mobo looks good, I got an Intel-version of that board a little while ago, and it's worked great.
You could upgrade the mobo to have DDR2 compatibility, and upgrade the RAM, but DDR2 has latency issues that make it not a great value proposition yet, imho.
As for the hard drive, I'd look for something bigger, personally. I've got a 74GB Raptor as the primary for my workstation, and I can barely keep it from being full.
Maxtor SATA-3.0GB 300GB 16MB Cache - $127
Other SATA 2.0GB drives:
WD2000JS - $91 (200GB)
WD2500JS - $96 (250GB)
Seagate 7200.9 - $103 (250GB)
Once you get above 250GB, you lose the 40cents/GB pricing, it appears.
Seagate 7200.9 160GB SATA 3.0GB - $87

Harddrives go on sale constantly. It will not be that hard to find a 200+ GB SATA 3.0 for <$75.

That's very amusing.
When I shop I always compare identical products between tigerdirect and newegg... and lately tiger ends up being a couple bucks cheaper, but then newegg kills them on the shipping charges.

I don't know this brand very well, so I don't really know how good the power supply is. But, something to consider.
Free 500W power supply
Looking into it more, it doesn't look all that bad. It doesn't have the plugs for the video cards (can't think of what they are called) so you'll have to use adapters (that will be included with the card). And it uses it's own included adapters for SATA drives. But, it puts out 34A at 12V which is plenty even for running two GeForce 7800s SLI style. So, considering it's free, it really doesn't look like a bad way to go. Plus, the included cords are super blingy.
