Does "wake-up on LAN" still exist?

Would that bring my server out of a low-power mode when someone outside tries to hit UO automap... or the GV server... or when I try to play MP3's over my LAN?

I like the idea of having my server in low power mode after 30 or so minutes of no one hitting it.

But then I wan tit to wake up when needed, with no other mouse-jiggling.

It does exist, check your BIOS. I've never used it, so can't provide more than that.

Ya, it's in there. But have no idea how it works or what it would take at your firewall for us to be able to turn it on. Tas and I often use GV into the wee hours of the morning.

I wont use it unless I can get 100% of the functiuonality I want... so no worries.

Though I may recruit someone for testing purposes.

If nothing else, it should be easy to set up one other computer that you plan to have on full time on your network to do the waking when it's hit by a request. Then if GV or whatever isn't awake, we'd hit that other page and it would wake up your server.

Just brainstorming ideas.
