So I'm looking to purchase a new TV.

Does anyone have any good info on which technology is THE technology to have? I know the differences between plasma, LCD, and DLP, but whivh really looks the best? Which picture will last the longest? Which is the best value? Which manufacturer makes the best picture?

I know plasma only has a great picture for approx. 5 years and then is cut in half with no chance of fixing it. I know LCDs have dead spots on the screen. I know DLP doesn't have as good a picture as LCD or plasma.

Sony used to make the best picture hands down with CRTS, but now who makes the best picture? Panasonic?

That's the first I've heard there was no chance of fixing it. I heard you needed to get new plasma for about $250.

Well they're saying 16 years, but they've only been out 6 years so... guess we'll see =)

Ok, so plasma seems to be the tech to go with, but any word on who makes the best picture in plasma?
The bigger question is: What's your budget?

Let's just say I'm shopping for something in the 40-42 inch range. I'd like something in the $1500-$2k range, but would be willing to go higher for quality.

I do know that I need an integrated HDTV and not something "HD Cable Ready" to avoid additional expenses.
