We'll tax our members so we can save up for a private starbase. This percentage comes out of your income. What's the max amount of taxation you can live with?

I picked 5%.

Money doesn't really matter much to me yet... I've spent about 5 mil, got 5.5mil lying around. 5% won't even be noticed. Plus, if we recruit, other people should give us money.

I figure we'll all give voluntarily anyways, so the 5% just makes it non-thinking.

I voted 10%. Turns out not all your bounties are taxed. Only some of the bigger ships. Not sure what the criteria is. Also, you don't get taxed on mission bonus. So, not all income is taxed. So, 5% may only be like 2-3% when all is said and done.

But I agree, most things will be 'fund drive' type things. But the tax makes it automatic and the fund drives won't be quite as needy.

But at the same time, percentage could be based on goals. Have none, no tax. Have big ones, big tax.

Well hell. Best I can tell, you don't even get taxed when selling things. Sold 290k worth of a resource and no entry in the journal as far as me depositing anything. Wonder if there are taxation settings somewhere that will allow that stuff to be taxed. . . if we choose. But as it stands, the only thing taxed are higher bounties and mission base pay.

Dude, you sound like a Democrat.

Anyway, even if it's an option I'd recommend against taxing market sales. It looks like 10% may be a good profit on a trade run if someone goes into that line, and chopping off 5% would really make that a difficult way to make a living.

My view is, we (well some of us), are talking about buying our own space station and claiming chunks of space. Minimum to get started with a space station is 25 billion. That doesn't even include any of the good stuff that make having a space station fun. And it doesn't include any defenses so it doesn't get blowed up or taken over or whatever happens when there's no defenses.

So, when we are looking at over 25 BILLION in start up costs, 10% doesn't seem like that much to me. We'll tax 10% and then we'll still all have to dump millions and billions into the pot to cover the costs. And again, the only thing that gets taxed is bounties over 35k and mission pay. Not bonuses. Not sales of items/resources, or anything else. So, the areas where you make the most money (item sales) isn't even touched. Personally, I don't see what the big deal would be.

And plus, I'm not trying to tax to support the poor (like a democrat). It's so the guild can grow and gain power and stuff. Are you suggesting that us richer players should stop giving the newbs free stuff while getting started so as not to be democrats!?

And finally, I've already dropped 1.7 million into this venture. So. . . I don't have a point. Just wanted everyone to know that. :-)

May I be the first to suggest we start looking for a mining operation who is looking to expand to dangerous space and wants a Security team or two to keep the area safe. We could make a bundle that way.

What would we need to pull that off? And, should start a new thread for this!

I still vote 5%, cuz I think that gives people more flexibility, but I can't imagine any of the 9 of us not contributing more.

After a couple days to think about it, I voting for 10% taxation now. If we ever want anything remotely cool, we need UN scandal-sized amounts of cash. I'm willing to tithe.

FYI to everyone: When you are selling things, there is a check box that allows you to donate the funds to the corp wallet instead of your own. So, if you are ever feeling generous, or whatever, there's that.

Cool. In that case, if it sounds like a good idea, I'll donate one of my auction slots to the corporation, and list some of the "junk" resources we've been gathering up for sale at a fair market price (and be sure to check that box). Unless, of course, we actually have a use in mind for 180,000 units of Thorawhosit and 60,000 units of Pyrowhatsit?

Maybe Raw Materials should be its own hangar so that we dont sell them, and our builder will have them around.

I put them in the 'Resources' bin of the hanger. The Whosawhatsits make missles and stuff.

'K, I won't do anything like that, then. When we hit 1 million units of the Whowhatsis and no builders in sight yet, I'll offer again. :)

OK, maybe we should re-name it "Resources" and make a different one that is "Junk" cuz the minerals will come in handy one day.
