Yeah, that's old, though. I once honestly saw some global warming dick trying to convince people that "colder = warmer."

Yesterday the dreaded gas bill came. 33 whole dollars. About 7 dollars over what it runs in the summer. Guess I have been doing well with the wood. Electric bill is up 45$(Estimated not really sure but that number is double normal) because of ceiling fans and we run a ceramic heater in the bedroom on occasion.

So we got 0.07" of rain in Houston overnight, no snow at all. It did freeze up our overpasses, and here is the result:

Normally at this time of day there'd be only one or two incidents and most of the map would be green. A lot of those grey parts are closed this morning, or it's an area where they are blocking the road off and then letting one car through at a time in an attempt to reduce collisions.

Oh, to clarify, I didn't mean single file. I mean one at a time. The next car doesn't go until the first one is over the frozen overpass.

So, you can herd cattle, but cars are a bit troublesome?

That is bad. Hope you don't get caught up in it.

Snowed another 5-6" today. This is officially the most snow I've seen on the ground since I moved here 5 years ago.

More snow forecast through Monday.

There was another 3" on the back porch by the time I got home. ;)

You left your gloves here.

On a good note, with all the running around I had to do today, everyplace was pleasantly deserted. Target, Home Depot, etc. Twas nice.

That's good.

I have electric heat. It was up $25 from summer rates, because I haven't been using it. My wood burning stove (with blower) has been handling it.

Of course, it gets cold on the opposite end of the house, but there isn't a wife around to complain so it's all good.

In cold months I've had the electric bill jump $250, so I'm pleased.

Is that gay code?

Not only is this the most snow on the ground since you've moved back, it's the most snow I've seen on the ground since the blizzard of 78.

We've had more snow in a year, two years ago, but after each snowfall it always melted away before the next one.

P.S. This global warming is a bitch.

You mean they make them bigger than 3"?

-----------------

It's been raining. I got a text from a friend and hour North of me that it was raining where she worked, and sticking, so schools were closing an hour early.

Then while I was in the town South of me, another friend said it was snowing in my town, but not sticking.

When I drove North to do some work in my home town it literally started snowing as a I crossed the county border. There was a little accumulation in the grass, but now it's all turned to rain again so I doubt the snow is still there.

It's supposed to be cold the next several days, but no more precipitation.

Well this has been a long winter. I have had my fill of it. Started right after Thanksgiving. Can't remember the last time we had snow stick to the ground for more than one day of deer season. Thursday here is high of 10 low of minus 4. At least next week is going to hit some 30s. Snow started to melt and roll off my steel roof today. The garage has a three foot chunk waiting to crash down. Let there be spring!!

Was in the Akron area for a few days; light snow was in the forecast. Then the forecast was 3". Then in the middle of that 3", they decided 6-9", and lots of people ended up stick on the interstate overnight, sleeping in their cars. I myself had to pay a guy $20 to follow me in his tow truck for 10 miles to my hotel and push me along when I came to a hill and couldn't get up it in my Trans Am. I've never, ever seen conditions like this where I couldn't get over an overpass in that car.

The next morning on the local news I was watching to see if I could get back on the road.... the newscasters were praising the road crews for getting the snow removed so fast.

People spent the night on the interstate because of 6" of snow, and road crews were being praised.

Yeah.

They sucked.

Another foot or so fell up here. Twenty-four solid hours of, "Goddamn, that's coming down."

It was 70 all weekend through Monday, but today I did have to wear a coat, even though the sun was out.

Michigan sucks.

We've been staying up here while house hunting and they simply don't plow or salt their roads. On top of that, their utility crews are apparently garbage as well. The high school and many, many homes have been without power all week after the ice storm. Kids haven't been to school once this week.

Seems like 'they' were better at keeping roads clear, power on, etc 10 years ago.
