Ohio Winter Shitfest 2011
As of 1 a.m. it looks like we're getting a lot less than predicted.

Ditto. Not much snow, but it's drifting. Just got home. Driving in it was fine. Was able to do 45 the whole way (expressway and city streets). I only got stuck once. It was after I placed my order at the McDonald's drive through. I was able to rock out of it though.
This is one of the first times in a looooooong time where I had to drive, and you couldn't tell where the road was. Except for the tire tracks of the cars that went before you. My exit wasn't plowed either. But, the trucks had been working the road. So, there was a nice pile of snow I had to ram through, which was fun. (seriously. It was fun doing it.) I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. I hope it keeps falling.

Weird ass weather. My mom told me about the 70s, and so I naturally thought that, being 6 hours south, Atlanta would be the same or warmer!TheCatt wrote:SUCKERSThe Triangle will bask in 70-degree weather Wednesday, but snow and ice in other parts of the country are making it difficult for some travelers to leave and enter North Carolina.
I was wrong. The walk to work was cold and windy.
Had that happen last year when I was driving to Columbus at 5am. Didn't slow me down much, but my car's traction control was kicking in so I had to slow down a littleCakedaddy wrote:This is one of the first times in a looooooong time where I had to drive, and you couldn't tell where the road was. Looks like we got maybe 3" overnight. Still snowing, but not blowing anymore so that's good. I don't see a coat of ice on anything, so no freezing rain. We still have power.Leisher wrote:As of 1 a.m. it looks like we're getting a lot less than predicted.
The guy running his snow blower at 4:30am was great. At first I was thinking, "That's cool; probably has to get to work and his car is stuck." But it went for almost an hour so I think some ass was doing all his sidewalks and everything at 5 am.

This was in the headline of an article on the storm. People are such psychos.

I cleared the sidewalk all the way down to the bus stop, maybe 150 yards.
Butthole down the street plowed his driveway onto the sidewalk that I cleared.
Different butthole down the street lets his dog out his front door, and the dog has been pissing and shitting on the sidewalk I cleared in a different place. Gigantic piles of shit.

I watched a lady wipe out on the expressway this morning. I think she was following too close to someone who slowed down a bit. She hit her brakes and her back end started sliding a bit. Then after a series of over corrections, she flings herself across three lanes and into the cement barrier on the side of the road. Every single other car in the area was able to slow down and let her do her thing and then continued on. I was glad she ended up parallel with the road and not sticking out into a lane. There was a huge wall of snow against the cement barrier, so damage to her car will probably be pretty minimal, unfortunately. It should cost you to be that much of an idiot. As soon as I saw her back end slide out, I tapped my breaks, and sure enough, the anti-locks activated which meant we were on ice. I checked my mirror to make sue I wasn't going to be rear ended. All clear, so I was able to slow down fast enough to not t-bone her. I thought for sure the guy to my right was going to be taken out, but even he was able to slow down enough to not hit her. She's just flailing around in front of us. I started fishtailing as well. But not being an idiot, I kept control of my truck. Why do people hit the breaks and turn wildly hoping everything will just work out somehow?
Then I got stuck in my driveway.
Then I got stuck in my driveway.
I cannot stand the assholes with the snow blowers who shoot the snow into the plowed street or into their neighbor's driveway and don't go out with a shovel to clean it up.

I'm usually VERY careful with that, and rarely blow snow where someone else will have to clean it up.Leisher wrote:I cannot stand the assholes with the snow blowers who shoot the snow into the plowed street or into their neighbor's driveway and don't go out with a shovel to clean it up.
That being said, since I am doing the sidewalks for 25% of the people on my street, I DARE someone to bitch at me if I do.
