Went to Sears today. The salesman lied about me being able to recycle my own washing machine. His story was they had to deliver the new one and take the old one to Columbus. I said I would like a refund on my non-refundable delivery charge. Turned out to be the salesman who lied and sold me the machine. He said it was a corporate purchase and if he canceled it it would take even longer than the 16th to get my washer. Let them deliver it then come in and he would then refund my 65$.

You can always do a partial claim against the credit card charge if they don't refund you in reasonable time. You've only got 45 days to do that, though, so keep an eye on the calendar.

If nothing else I would talk to a store manager and tell him the salesman lied to you. Threaten them with a claim to the state of Ohio about how they are abusing/abused customers using this program. I bet you get results. Especially if you show up with a printout of the phone number you can call to make this claim... shows you are serious and have done the prep work.

I have all my paperwork for my rebate. I only need the recycling form. I was told I don't need it and I can just sign that I will recycle it responsible. I would just assume use the form and not take any chances with being denied.
I do want to get ahead of this thing before the 16th. I do like the idea of turning them into the state. (When, if he screws me) I wondered if I should write Sears Corp. before and tell them what is up and what my worries are. But if he lives up to his word this time I don't wish him any bad will with the company.

Low and behold. I walked into Sears. The correct salesman greets me at the door. When he asked what he can help me with. I told him I was after my non refundable refund. When he realizes what I am asking for he gets a deer in the headlights look in his eyes. Looks around and gives me the please be quiet sign over his mouth. Then races back to his terminal and gave me my refund while pushing me out the door. I believe he was scared of the store manager.
