Shin Godzilla (2016)

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Shin Godzilla (2016)

TLDR: Go watch Godzilla Minus One instead.

This is a Godzilla film that he's in, but it's not really a Godzilla film. If you've ever dreamt of a film where the politicians are the heroes and you want to mostly see them talk, this is the movie for you.

Godzilla "evolves" as this movie progresses. He starts off with massive gills, unable to stand, and eventually gets to something closer to what you're used to. He's invulnerable to everything until the script needs him to not be anymore. He also just stops and goes comatose for some reason. Oh and his powers are flame breath, being able to shoot lasers from his mouth and dorsal fins, and I shit you not, radar to detect flying objects. It's just ridiculous.

There are some very small shots at the U.S. and their role post WWII in Japan, but also some tips of the hat to them. I found that to be interesting. Kind of like saying, "We've gone through some shit together, but we do like you."

I would say this was like a reimagining of the original with heavy statements about war and radiation and blah blah blah.

The best thing in this movie is Satomi Ishihara because she's hot AF.
