The earth experiences a 12 second blackout, and at the end of it The Beatles never existed, except one struggling musician remembers them. He begins "writing" and releasing Beatles tunes, as his own.
This could have been a fun, light hearted movie, but they went the other direction. The dude is just constantly guilt-ridden about being called the greatest songwriter ever.
But it was ok. Had about as satisfying an ending as a person with a conscience would have, in that situation.
But.... the constant comparison to "his" Beatles tunes, compared to other contemporary music, really did make the Lennon and McCartney look like musical geniuses.
